COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2004 750-best before 02/05- This is a fantastic brew. Extremely complex. I cant believe I ve been passing on it for as long as I have. Cant really add anything that hasnt already been said. This has neatly positioned itself behind rochefort 10 on my list of great beer.

Nice brown color with lasting off white head. Classic fruity aroma, of dried fruit that reminds me of many of the great abbey ales. Mix of carmel and frit for flavor. Well balanced and the alcohol is well hidden. Wonderful beer.

Dark brown/ruby cloudy color. Sweet aroma full of fruit. Tan head that sticks around. Sweet taste on the tip of the tongue but a wine like spice in the back of the throat. The malts and spice combine to an almost cigar-like aftertaste that is complex and enjoyable.

Nice tan head after the pour. Fruity and malty aroma. Nice ruby brown color. Malty with some nice roasted malt flavors. A complex beer that I keep getting other flavors some slight spicey and phenolic tastes. A very good Belgian Strong that I like better than the Maudite because it has more malt flavors and body.

Dark with a quickly dissapating head. Fruity, wine like, with alcohol present in the taste. Very enjoyable.

Poured a very deep reddish brown and clear with a tan head that dissapears quickly. Wonderful fruity malty aroma that reminds me of a good Belgian ale. Mouthfeel is lively and medium bodied. Has an excellent balanced flavor of malts that gives a fruity roasted malt flavor that could equal many of its Belgian cousins. Finishes with a sugary sweetness that is abundantly pleasant. Probably the best widely available ale of this style.

Deep mahogony coloring. Flavor is a little fuller and a little more sour than Maudite. A very full-bodied beer. Great brew.
