Definitely need to let this one warm up a bit. I am having a hard time describing this one. It is fairly complex and kind of unique. Lightly carbonated. You don't notice the alcohol much even though it is 9%. It is far from my favorite quad but it is pretty good.
Second tasting 3-8-16. This time I much enjoyed sipping it cold. Notes of raisin and plum. Spicy notes, pepper? Strong Belgium Yeast notes. Definitely becomes more subtle and complex as it warms. Quite enjoyed it this go-round
Had it a couple of times this year and have not really cared for it. I knocked it down from a 4.5 to a 3.5 and removed it from my favorites

12oz bottle, thx RB. Pours dark brown with reddish edges and a dense, lasting beige head with good lacing. Aromas of dark dried fruit, burnt sugar, sweet malt, molasses, apples and oranges. Dark, sweet stewed fruit flavors, toffee, earth, roasted malt, cocoa, prunes, raisins. Full bodied with high carbonation. Long delicious fruit and roasted malt finish. Well-hidden alcohol. Ar: Black pepper, blackcurrant, pear, and plum; zesty peaches, coated in brown-sugar glaze. Ap: Deep ruby-brown; medium very-light mocha head with moderate-good retention, leaving a blanket of froth across the top. T: Plum, licorice, and grape; dark candied fruit and the slightest char; clean, warming alcohol; bitterness is medium-high, with a mossy, peppery hop flavor; treacle and anise on the finish. P: Medium body with very high carbonation, airy and creamy. O: Very enjoyable Belgian-style quad; effervescent and lush in the mouth, bursting with spice and fruit; deep and robust, with a classic Belgian yeast character. azzurro (337) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 1, 2017

Bottle at Cest What, Toronto, 11th July 17. Pours black and bubbly. Aroma is dark fruit, prune, light liquorice. Taste is dark fruit, raisin, liquor, caramel, sweet and heavy. Not bad, but not as good the Belgian stuff. Grzesiek79 (4364) - Radom, POLAND - JUN 28, 2017
Many thanks for this beer to CH-303. Piwo ma mala piane pelna pecherzykow błyskawicznie opada i spływa cala po szkle bez sladu. Barwa ciemna geste dość choć ogolnie bez osadu. Zapach sliwka, kompot z suszu.
