Half-pint draft for "Union Craft Tap Takeover" at Old Line Fine Wine, Spirits & Bistro in Beltsville, MD. Of the six Union Crafts I had, it was probably my least favorite. Not saying it wasn’t good/ok, but just not up to par with the others.
Balt is a dark, copper colored brew with a creamy head, a gentle bitterness and a clean, dry finish. While I normally like coffee infused cask beers, this one just tasted a bit strange. The aroma, taste, and feel just don’t all fit together for me on this one. Travlr (26105) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - SEP 3, 2014
Cask. Cloudy amber color, large fluffy tan head with good retention and solid lacing, nice to see on a cask with coffee in it. Aroma of... you guesed it, coffee! Taste is earthy coffee and caramel. It pretty much works. snoworsummer (6071) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - OCT 30, 2013
Cask. Pours hazy medium brown with a thin, fizzy, off white head. Tastes like iced coffee. Mild, creamy coffeeness with just enough bitterness. Very good. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like fresh coffee beans. sonnycheeba (6342) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - OCT 18, 2013
Cask at WOB. Pours a lightly cloudy reddish brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, light toast, burnt toffee, raisins, and some earthy hops. Flavor is dry, roast malt base with some coffee and chocolate notes and some dark fruit esters; creamy mouthfeel with a dry, slightly ashy finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Tap at Smoke & Barrel. Muddy brune pour. Weak head. Nose is small apples. Taste is weak and tangy with decent coffee. Very thin body. Lemon tartness. Strange stuff. Easy to drink, but almost like coffee flavored lemon juice and Perrieer. Strange. Drinkable, very light bodied. Not sure if the acidity in on purpose.
