The thing that makes Duckpin so darn good is its perfect, crisp finish after a nice malty pull. I like pale ale of almost every stripe, but this beer catapulted from obscurity to the top of my list because the balance is exquisite. Union isn’t pandering to hop freaks here, or slumming it in (watery) legacy-beer territory. They put in quality ingredients and got everything right. Its a beer you will never be sad to own until its the last one in your fridge. Bill Becker (1032) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - DEC 25, 2014
12 ounce can I got from a good buddy...Robert A. Thanks!
I could smell the pine as soon as I pulled the tab on the can. It’s a slightly hazy honey gold colour with a firm 1" head of foam. It started off bigger but refuses to get smaller.
Smell? I already covered that above. ;^)
The taste is as piney as any I’ve had in a Pale Ale with more than a hint of some tropical fruit going on in the background. I get a bit of bready malt but nothing that I would remotely call sweet. As in sugary sweet, not as in sweeeet, this brew is good.
Perfecto mouthfeel, this is one heck of a delicious hop forward Pale Ale!

Nice hoppy ipa. Not too overpowering and a clean finish. Nice easy drinking.

On draft. Complex aroma - this seems to be a consistent strong point of this brewery - lemon peel, slight malt, earthiness, certainly some cannabis. Flavors fit the same bill. Quite refreshing, given the hop-forward flavor. I may be overrating this because it’s local and cool, but whatever. Distinctive, well-brewed beer that the community should be proud to represent.

This is a very fine APA. It has great hop aroma, and a nice very balanced taste. Very sessionable. Great first beer from this great new brewery. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - AUG 10, 2013
12oz can: pours a clear deep golden with a clingy-lacing white head. Has a lightly sweet toasted pale malty nose with fresh resiny citrus hops. Starts with good fullness and a clean malty sweetness well balanced with juicy hop flavor and resiny bitterness before a crisp bittersweet finish. Very well hopped and quite drinkable. nimbleprop (8376) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 18, 2013
12oz can at Max’s Hop Fest 2013. Pours a clear orange with some frothy, white head. Nose is earthy, lemon, pithy, vinous, some white grape. Flavor is nice, herbal, chive, scallion, malt, orange, honey, spicy onion. Full, herbal finish. Very nice. I would love to get sixers of this in DC. pras (602) - Maryland, USA - JUL 13, 2014
This was really good and I wasn’t expecting much. Big citrus and pine aroma. Aroma followed through to the taste. Could have this in my regular rotation. Very enjoyable. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 28, 2014
Can. Pours a clear gold body under a small frothy white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is pretty nice, lots of fresh and bright hoppiness, especially for just an APA. A nice mix of floral and tropical fruits over a clean pale malt base. The flavor is light on the malt, leaving the hops to do most of the talking. Nicely dry maltiness, bright, with a clean bitterness on the back end. Light bodied and very easy drinking. I think I’d make this a staple in the fridge if it were available locally. Right up there with Sly Fox Phoenix Pale Ale. Pretty delicious.
