Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark caramel color with a large foamy orange-beige head that left great lacing. The aroma was bitter, piney and resinous with floral hops and a grainy note. The flavor was bitter, piney and fruity with a grainy undertone. Long bitter piney finish. Medium body. Ok. alexsdad06 (10486) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - APR 10, 2016
Cask to half snifter at Churchkey. Pours a clear deep amber color with no head. The aroma and flavor have big anise up front, hints of orange peel, spicy rye, not much else, moderate bitterness, the anise dominates though. drsordr (2747) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - APR 10, 2016
Draft to taster at Churchkey on cask, pour copper with minimal ecru head. Nose anise, and that does it for me. Taste light bitter up front, then dank and anise. I just don’t like anise. GenDV138 (7361) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - FEB 6, 2016
