UPDATED: SEP 8, 2010 Tap. Beautiful red/copper with a creamy, nitro-ish and lacing beige head. Light toasty notes with a surprising fruitiness in the nose. Dryish taste with nice yeasty after. Toast melding into toffee, some dry chocolate. Smooth with low, residual hop presence and a creamy body. I wouldn’t really call this a pure Altbier, but it’s a welcome addition to the summer scene. I was lucky enough to try this tremendously sessionable Altbier just before it’s official release on tap in Indy. S: Toasty, bready, Munich malt melanoidans. Very slight hop presence in aroma. A: Pours a deep mahogany-brown with ruby hues and an amzing clarity when held to the light. 1/4" off white head that lingers, but doesn’t stand out. T: Very rich, toasty Munich malt. Reminiscent of toasted bread crusts and malty goodness. Hop bitterness balances out malty sweetness. Nice and clean. D: Perfect carbonation and highly drinkable. Don’t even get the slightest hint of alcohol. Overall, an awesome session beer for the summer. A great change from the traditionally hop-focused summer brews !
