Creamy chocolate flavors combine with a lightly roasted finish and superb body to balance this traditional brown porter. A fragrant malt/hop aroma and herbaceous hop flavor complete this highly quaffable ale.

I am wondering if I didn’t get a bad bottle of this. It was a bit on the sour side. Perhaps this was intentional. I mean it wasn’t like the unplugged (historic style) porter from New Glarus undrinkable sour. However, it had a wang to it...kind of like a homebrew with bad sanitation practices. The roasted malts and hops hid a multitude of sins.

Sampled at an ESBLs. Dark brown with a tan head. A smoky aroma with roast. Grain flavor that is dry. Very earthy.

Bottle thanks to Eric and Bryn’s uncle. Dark brown, khaki head. Lots of roast and chocolate with hints of dark fruit in the background. Really solid classic Porter nose, and taste backs it up. Leans slightly to the sweet side, but dry roasty lightly bitter finish. Medium body, average carbonation, creamy smooth texture. Overall: really nice.

Bottle. Pours black with a beige head. Mild dark malt and chocolate in the taste and aroma, Slight bitterness in the finish, Nice.

Bottle - Pours an almost completely opaque brown - tight light tan head that recedes quickly - no lacing. Aroma is mild chocolate and coffee, mildly roasted (shall I call it ’toasted’?)...some nuts. Pretty good, though not intense by any means. Flavor is even more mild - roasted malt, coffee, mild bitter chocolate - not bad, but not as good as the nose. Medium to light bodied - seems appropriate for the drink. Not bad, but nothing to come running back for!

12 oz. bottle from Jungle Jim’s International Market, Fairfield, OH (best enjoyed by January 2016). Dark brown cola-like pour with a short khaki head. Mild coffee and light floral hop aroma. Taste of roasted coffee and light chocolate. Mild lingering bitterness. A good porter.

What a great beer. Dark brown in color. Tan head. Nut and malt tones in the smell. Coffee, malt with a light chocolate flavor. Finish is a light hop and malt. Love this beer.

Poured into a mini-tulip. A lot of roasty notes, a little earthy nose. The beer was poured out medium brownish. Heavy-ish, dark right at the front. Mid way the body ligthened with a slightly flat finish.

Bottle from beer club. Pours black with medium brown head. Toast to the nose continues to taste along with chocolate and some sweetness, maybe molasses. A little thin for a porter, but overall I liked it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
