Growler from the brewpub. Poured a reddish brown with a light brown head. Aroma was full of sweet malts, biscuit and a nice underlying alcohol note. Tap at MacNiven’s. Pours cloudy pale copper with 1-finger white head. Nose is sweet malts and alcohol. Taste is smooth and sweet with very strong/rich malt presence and an alcohol taste the melds decently. A lot of sweet fresh fruits going on, very "wine-like" at times. Draught from a snifter. Hazy ruby pour with a creamy, fluffy, lacing white head. Sweeeeeet nose, extremely fruity with strong presence of house (yeast) character and richly malty, berry and light grape/plum. Full body, hugely malty, low bitterness, medium sweetness, a little hop resin in with all the fruit. Earth, toffee, light peaty smoke underneath at the bottom. Complementary caramel notes with some nice, subtle Maillard products up in there. I didn’t notice any alcohol at all. Very nice, and a style I’d love to see become a regular/seasonal around here.
