TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - FEB 11, 2016
Draft on tap at Binny’s Marcy Street Tasting Room (Chicago, IL). Intriguing find. Pours a dulled golden amber hue, gentle depth and fall glow starts into the middle. Frothy off white head atop is soapy, mostly full layer with mellow lacing, filmy retention. Aromas show a bit more pineapple, tart and a touch stale with floral hops, lemony jabs, earth and mellow sweeter malts. A bit of staleness, florals and subtle honey like sweeter stale malts. Initial is a touch heavier, getting towards medium bodied with lots of pineapple, apple, caramel and biscuits malta come in. Decent hippy bitterness tries it’s best but falls behind. Some lemon, earth, a bit of body into the middle. Tangy juicy pineapple, a touch of staleness, muffin, earth. Backend shows a bit more of an earthy bitterness, tapering sweet sticky appeal. Some citric grapefruit wafts, more, potent jabs of florals try their best to cut through but it’s still an ebb and flow between both sides. Overall a touch sweeter and girthy, while pineapple is fun it generally doesn’t do this one better for me. A sweeter sticky carmelized aroma, touch too much body but a hop profile that does work at times. This one isn’t quite in my wheelhouse but I think it was at least a fun idea. Certainly worth checking out for pineapple enthusiasts.. because it has a lot. Ok.

On tap in Madison, WI

While checking out the new Hopcat in Madison during GTMW week I happened across this draft. Upland beers are generally reliable so after a few minutes I dug into my four ounce pour to discover a well crafted beer typical of their standards. If you want something unusual this fits the bill.

Aroma / Appearance - A bronze cherry base shimmers with a thin vanilla head. Coconuts, pineapples, and resin cling to the air above the glass like beach smells in a tourist’s conch shell. Crisp hops glue it all together with focus.

Flavor / Palate - Coconut sprinkles on a fresh pineapple upside down cake triggers a refreshing transition of fresh fruitiness and hops. It becomes hard to pin down all the experiences as this tries to push the envelope beyond just "hops, some malt, and a floral bouquet." If novelty is your thing buy a bottle or pint. If not then it may not be the draft for you.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste pineapple, citrus. I thought this was ok. I wouldn't drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap...amber pour with fruity nose. Very unique flavor profile with coconut and juicy tropical fruit pairing well with the hops and malt. I’ve not had anything that tastes like this...very creative and well made.

b3shine (9208) - Indiana, USA - AUG 8, 2015
Draft to pint at the Indy tasting room. Looks good; a very slightly hazy golden orange with foamy eggshell head. Smells and tastes of tropical fruit with a mildly bittersweet backbone. Pineapple and coconut. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. A nice take on the style.

574deadzone (1419) - North Central, Indiana, USA - AUG 7, 2015
Draft at the Carmel taphouse. Pours a slightly hazy gold with barely anything of an eggshell head. Nose involves toasted malt, some peach, rye-like spice, some apricot, mostly subdued fruit notes. Somewhat sweet, fairly bitter, even lightly salty. Medium toward heavy bodied, softer flaccid carb, with a twangy bitter finish. If they said if was English style, it would have made more sense. It definitely did not get tropical.
