Batch 1 bottle, drunk I believe some time back in 2008-ish. Again, rating against an American Sour, not a Lambic.WillRunForBeer (2702) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 3, 2017
Chilled, rested bottle erupts a few feet in to the air very forcefully. We got about 40% of the bottle remaining, with tons of sediment and carbonation. Deep violet-golden with a huge head, but much of that due to overcarbonation, I’m sure.
Very sour with both fruit and bacterial acidity proposing quite a bit of malic, lactic and acetic acid. Feels like there’s some wheat behind it, as well as light honey and biscuit. Brett adds brightness and the berries are quite lovely, being nicely integrated and providing pepper, currant-like notes and tons of acidity.
In the mouth it’s very, very, very sour. Intense amounts of lactic acid are bolstered by a good deal of acetic acid. Lots of oak tannin, but thankfully not heavily toasty. Texture is highly attenuated, but still provides a good suppleness and very light malt sweetness. Strong but tight carbonation and no alcohol or flaw. If you can get past the intense sourness, this is fine stuff.
From notes. Sample at EBF. Pours reddish purple with a pink head. Aroma is tart blackberry, lemon. Flavor is very tart... Blackberry, lemon. It’s good, but it might be taking the enamel off my teeth. thepatrickman (1398) - Lewes, East Sussex, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2017
EBF 2017. Like all of Upland’s lambics, this is hit-you-across-the-head sour, but it still worked well. The smell of fruit and sour notes was fantastic, and it tasted great as well (once I got past the sour bite), with fruit, a bit of barnyard funk, and some light biscuit flavor. Still, the sourness and the blackberries steal the show here, and I liked it. drfabulous (8224) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - DEC 31, 2016
From a bottle shared at Todd’s. Older batch, I think, by label. Light purple tart and blackberry but too acidic. koleminer20 (3798) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JUN 10, 2016
From notes. Enjoyed this at Doug’s house for a small gathering on May 01 with Travis, ebone1988, and I think Charlie made an appearance as well. I opened this 750 mL bottle, and it was great. The pour is a deep purple with a fizzy light pink head. It looks pretty sexy. It’s a little too fizzy, but other than that, it looks good. The aroma is all blackberry skins. It’s tart as hell. There is a little funkiness, but the tart souring of it offers an excellent BHP. The sourness on the back end is really something that can be expected from Upland. The flavor is excellent. There is a ton of sour tart blackberry juice. The sourness is what really stands out on this one. It’s great. The mouth feel is a little thick, but the fizzy carbonation makes this one not quite as good as it could be. The aftertaste is all huge sour blackberry with an excellent resounding sharp tartness that I love. This is definitely a sour beer.

Bottle share @ Hampton Inn pre-DLD 2016. Pour is deep purple/red with a very small pink head. Flavor and aroma of oak, cork, tobacco, earth, sour blackberries, and citric acid. Finish has a bit more sweet blackberries than the body. ebone1988 (2040) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - MAY 1, 2016
Bottle shared with koleminer20 and Doug. 2015 vintage. Aroma is tart, blackberry skins, barnyard, real nice. Appearance is dark red, light pink head, pretty hazy. Taste is very tart, blackberry, lots of funk, sour sour at the end. High BHP. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, crisp harsh carbonation, tart blackberry aftertaste. Overall, this is pretty harsh. Good, but harsh. _angst_ (4802) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 4, 2016
Bottle courtesy of Milsem. Pours very hazy bluish red with a small frothy bluish pinkish white head that leaves some spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity with crackers, lemon juice, blackberries, forest fruits, hay, dry soil, leather, apple cider vinegar and lemon zest. Taste is heavy sour and fruity. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, mouth-puckering and light to medium bodied. Finish is heavy sour with blackberries, lemon juice and apple cider vinegar. Nice blackberry character but a bit too sour. tkrjukoff (4335) - SWEDEN - APR 4, 2016
