Thanks to Josh for sharing! Bottle pours light dark brown sugar color with off white head. Aroma is brown sugar, bourbon, caramel, and some wood. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is more brown sugar, caramel, subtle booze tones, and finishes with a hot twang. Good stuff. sebletitje (10080) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JUL 17, 2010
thanks to jdubfl for the share.
bah, this is another ridiculously good BA beer.
amber color, white head.
aroma and flavors, just a lot of barrel goodness, notes of vanilla along with roasted malts, bready mouthfeel. The way this is aged just let the whole barrel come alive in a phenomenal way.
This is tasty stuff! b3shine (8864) - Indiana, USA - MAR 11, 2012
Shared bottle to oversized snifter. Looks good; a deep BW with great carbonation for its age. Smells good too; notes of both the bourbon and the base beer. Tastes great; nothing too intense at any moment, but a wonderful marriage of good bourbon barrels and great barleywine that only time can produce. Mouthfeel is good too. Overall, a great beer that I hope to cross paths with again. Cavie (4717) - Arlington, Texas, USA - AUG 1, 2010
Bottle courtesy of Sprinkle. Clear reddish color. Bubbly head. Aroma is big whisky and heavy alcohol notes. Dark peet moss and wood also come through. Tastes like a lovely vanilla bean shot. Reminds me of grandma’s peanut butter cookies. Very tasty. Finishes decently and of a well made shot. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - JUN 24, 2010
22oz bottle shared by JoeTheYounger, thanks Joe. Rating #7. Beautiful color, dark amber with a dark orange glow and very little head. Great aroma, very subdued rich malts and just umm. Slight woodiness, very light bourbon and a nice touch of hops, real nice. (1265)

Bottle thanks to Deyholla (derek) and shared with Hophead22. Dark copper/amber color with tiny head. Aroma was faint coconut, hops, caramel, and toast. Taste was similar with faint bourbon that was not over the top and some nuttiness. Low to medium pallet. Very good stuff. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUL 16, 2010
Big thanks to jdubFL for sharing this beauty. Pours clear copper with half inch tall tan head. The aroma is spicy with a touch of tartness, mild sweet malts and caramel. The taste is sweet with smooth bourbon, some sweet malts, vanilla, spicy hops and then somewhat growing booziness that never gets out of hand. Smooth stuff that’s sweet yet has a nice hop and barrel component too. shrubber85 (11390) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - APR 7, 2012
Bottle. Caramel malt and bourbon aroma. Chestnut color with minimal head. Strong bourbon flavor upfront with surprisingly subdued sweet caramel malt flavor. Pretty strong ’hint’ of bourbon. Nicely balanced - not too sweet, not too much alcohol. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - APR 7, 2012
Bottle shared with shrubber85. Sweet malt, smoky/oaky bourbon, and vanilla aroma. Chestnut with a small off-white head. Sweet malt, sharp oaky bourbon flavor smoothed with vanilla. Despite the boozy bourbon flavor the alcohol was well hidden. Full body. birdmachine (226) - Oakland, California, USA - NOV 24, 2013
22oz bottle courtesy of gyberic. Unsure of the vintage, maybe 2011? Aroma is a nice blend of brown sugar, toffee, bourbon soaked figs, raisins, a nice kick of bourbon. Pours light brown with very red hues in the light. There is some head retention, but eventually settles out to the sides of the glass. Taste is extremely well balanced with initial toffee and butter, toasted oak, vanilla, caramel, heavy malt, toasted bread, and then the kiss of dark fruits, mostly raisin and dates. There is a nice spicy kick in there, but it is not a boozy spice, and there is very light astringency. The bourbon is pretty mellowed out at this point, I think, and integrates nicely with the fruits and heavy malt. The finish is smooth, great thick body, creamy finish that is not overly sweet or hoppy as some barley wines tend to be. Wish I knew what vintage it was!
