Bottle found in the cellar fro 2011 - seemed like it was definitely time to open this up! Mahogany with a beige head that quickly disappears. Plum, red wine, slightly rotten fruit, vanilla, light oak, leather and ash, Sweet, moderate body, mild carbonation, definitely slightly off though. burg326 (5630) - Florida, USA - APR 4, 2015
Poured a murky brown color with aromas of toffee, caramel and booze. Flavors are malt, caramel, booze, light roast and some more bourbon. Decent beer overall, glad I got to try it. outlawskies (564) - Ohio, USA - OCT 12, 2014
Julie says rich flavorful burbon is radiating it she give. A 4. V.

Backlogged rating thanks to some kind and generous soul. The smell is alcohol, bourbon, fruits, sweet, nice. The taste is the same, nice, alcohol kick, malts, fruits, wood, and sweet. cbfobes (2888) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - MAY 18, 2014
Poured from 22oz bottle, pours a murky brown with an off white head and spotty lacing, aroma has a good amount of dark fruit with a kick of bourbon and caramel, the flavor has a nice sweet front end with a kick of vanilla and oak in the finish, just a little small, pretty decent.

Bottle from StFun. Thanks! Deep copper/amber color with a pencil thin head that fleets off to the edges of the glass. This smells of caramel and twizzlers; dried plums, peach, dates; soft bourbon and wood notes mixing in. The flavors are sweet and a bit toasty. Plenty of caramel and toffee notes that mix with marshmallow, candied fruit, light bourbon and barrel notes. The bourbon barrel-aging is definitely milder than expected. But it’s there, just in a secondary role. Soothing and boozy but a shade thin in the body. Overall a solid evening sipper. Even though the barrel-aging is on the light side, it adds a nice element to kind of separate this from just your basic, boring barleywine. DrSilverworm (10000) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 6, 2014
5oz taster on tap at Olives. Mostly clear kind of brownish red color. Head quickly fades to virtually nothing. Big bourbon flavor, caramel malt, light spice. Some cough syrup. Pretty sweet, with a bit too much of a boozy warmth for 9%. Bigger body, lightly crisp, light carbonation. Slick texture. Big vanilla. This stuff drinks like 11% or more, pretty damn boozy and sweet. Like some one literally dropped a shot of liquor into my beer, not very well blended at all. Hard to drink much harder to drink than the BA Founders Red’s Rye I had earlier. Struggled to finish my half portion. Certainly not balanced nor easy-drinking.
