COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Komodo Dragonfly Black IPA is a well-balanced, dark, bitter, and totally unique beer experience. We brewed this IPA with a base of fresh Pilsner Malts and darkened the color with pure Black Malts, creating a clean malt character that allows the liberal hop additions to shine through. Komodo is dry hopped and aged with a pinch of lavender to add to the overall aromatic experience.

Bottled. A black beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, roasted malt, and citrusy hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, roasted malt, and citrusy hops, leading to a bitter roasted finish.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a pitch black with a dense light brown head. Hard roast aroma with only a hint of hops. Solid body, hard and a little harsh roasty malts while the hops don’t really add much but bitterness - and it sure ends bitter. I’d call this a Stout - simply. Hasn’t really got the good aroma hops to make this a Black IPA. 260412

Bottle at CaptainCougar’s local tasting, thanks! Extremely dark brown color, beige head. Aroma of burnt chocolate. Taste is licorice, burnt espresso. Nice.

Koelschtrinker (20398) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 3, 2011
12/12/11/12/11/12

A: The pour is a dark brown, almost black, color with a very fluffy tan colored head and some nice sheets of lacing. S: The primary aroma is roasted malt with some coffee notes and a noticeably acidity. T: Like the nose, the roasted malt is the primary component along with coffee, an acidic note, and a bitter finish. M: The body is medium with a lively and tingly carbonation. D: Not sure if the high carbonation and acidity were due to infection, but this one just seemed a bit "off". For a black IPA, this wasn’t all that hoppy.

Bottle at Papsø’s - Thanks. Black - brown head. Burned malts, coffee, nutty, ok bitterness, licorice, ok hoppy, a bit simple - but ok.

Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy light brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt and light hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy toasted bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. Very good brew that I would recommend to a freind.
