The persimmons were provided by Aaron Persinger, a local singer/songwriter who is currently the drummer for Rev. Peytons Big Damn Band. (The Rev himself is a certified Persimmon lover Ive been told, cant wait to get him a bottle). Being a classic Indiana fruit, we couldnt resist, maybe one day well find enough local mulberries and bring another (as far as we know) first-ever fruit lambic-style to the lineup.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a dissipating white head. Full bodied with a semi soft, fine carbonations. Aroma of persimmon and mead. Flavor of persimmon and honey with a moderate, not over the top sourness. Some alcohol detected on the finish. Unique, but not as sour as the Kreik or Kiwi.

Bottle. Hazy bright yellow orange in color... Aroma of orange, vanilla creamsicle, funk, and persimmon I reckon? Flavor is creamsicle, persimmon, citrus, lemon tartness, light funk, lots of acidity throughout and on finish... enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smell is weird. Almost floral. Taste is sour persimmon. Medium body, medium sharp carbonation, and no foam.

Bottle. Aroma is orange sherbet and sour funk. Tastes moderately sour which is way less than the normal Upland. Loads of vinegar to mix with the orange sherbet. Very good.

750 ml bottle sampled at Marks gigantic tasting. Pours a hazy pear juice color with a small to medium white head that settles into a ring and film. Notes of oak, vanilla, pear, lemon and lime juice, yogurt, sourdough. It has a cheesy funk in the aroma that doesnt show up in the more sour flavor. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, sour mouthfeel. That cheesy funk in the nose turns somewhat into puky sawdust as it warms, so this one is actually better colder. And despite that, I really, really enjoyed it.

Bottle @ Deans Sticky Bomb Shelter Tasting, thnx to the crew for sharing! Pours a hazy, headless beer. Aroma of tarty melon, white fruits, touches of oak and a massive tart base. Flavor is stringently tarty, loads of sour stuff going on. Never had individual persimmons before, but I reckon they have an influence in the tartness here. Hint of grainy and sweet malts in the very back. Sourness is strongly overpowering here, making this a great cleanser and very refreshing. Nice stuff.

Thx! to kermis. 750 ml. bottle sampled @ Deans sticky Bomb Shelter Tasting. GUSHER. Very hazy milky lemon appearance with no head. Nose is sour aspirin, sour puckering lactic, aspirin, sour orange, Taste is hugely sour puckering lactic acid, sour lemonade bacteria, vinegar, citrus acid, very basic one note sourness, the sourness is almost comical, very much Vitamin C, aspirin & lemonade, no complexity. Puckering. Not getting the fruit really, I could get maybe orange but persimmon, not really. Body is puckering & lemonade. Fun on its own terms, easily least favorite of the ones tried so far, lacks fruit character (or at least the one that the bottle promises) & the sourness is almost comical if not entirely so. Fun enough if you like super sour USA sours.

Bottle shared. Pours very hazy pale yellow with a ring white head. Aroma of light barnyard funk, aspirin, heavy lactic and orange. Flavour is light sweet and heavy burning sour. Light medium bodied with light carbonation.

Shared at a tasting hosted by Steve Hackley on September 25. Thanks Steve! This was poured from a 750 mL bottle that I won in one of the lotteries earlier this year. The pour is a foggy golden yellow color with no head to be found, just some light white wispy bubbles and a little movement from carbonation. The aroma is great. Huge sour up front, but its not acidic at first. Its a fruit-induced sour. There is a big time funk going on on the back end that almost seems like its sour oak. The barrel is definitely pretty prevalent in this one. The flavor starts out juicy and sour. Its like a sour lemon warhead of sorts. The persimmon really comes through on the back end. The oak maintains throughout, but doesnt deter a lot. Its surprisingly good. The mouth feel is crisp and tart with a resoundingly sour finish. The aftertaste lingers a bit, but its relatively quick and out. Really good sour from Upland.

Sample at first sunday. High on the tart quotient. Reminds me of kiwi a bit with a little muted and more tropical fruit flavor thanks to the persimmon.
