(Previously labeled Strawberry Lambic). Made with fresh whole strawberries from Heartland Family Farms in Spencer, IN, Strawberry is a fruited sour ale that showcases distinct fruit characteristics with a mildly tart base sour blonde ale. Light reddish hues highlight the color, with a bubbly pinkish foam. Aromas of fresh field strawberries and pleasant tartness, plus lactic tanginess and strawberry fruit flavors create a refreshing and experiential taste. Finish is very dry, with lingering strawberry flavor. (Previous description) In the spring of 2006, I brewed 300 gallons of top-fermented beer using wild yeast to create a Belgian-style Lambic. We conditioned the beer in oak casks and then initiated a secondary fermentation in the casks using whole fruit from Huber's Orchard in Starlight, Indiana. You should experience a tart, almost sour taste balanced by the aromatic and richly flavorful addition of whole strawberries - perfect to share with friends, and a platter of good cheese and fresh fruit. - Caleb Staton, Head Brewer

Sample courtesy of LinusB. Pours hazy reddish pale pink with a very small pinkish white head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity with crackers, lemon juice, fresh strawberries, clotted cream, minerals, lemon zest and hints of barnyard. Taste is heavy sour, fruity and buttery. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, mouth-puckering and light bodied. Finish is sour with lemon juice, lime juice, frozen strawberries, clotted cream, bitter, minerals and lemon zest. Way too sour and way too heavy on the diacetyl.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a thick off-white head. Aroma of strawberry, cream, funk and sourness. Sour strawberry flavor with some creaminess and funk before that signature Upland super sour finish.

Cloudy golden with pinkish notes, minimal head. Aroma is sour, funky and fruity with ripe strawberries, peach pulp, apricot skin, lemon juice, hints of green apple, acetic acid, some oak, herbal notes and hints of vanilla. Taste is very sour, fruity with a minimal sweetness. Mouth puckering sour finish with acetic acid, lemon juice, hints of green apple, very light fruity sweetness with ripe strawberries, apricot and peach, hints of vanilla. Light to medium bodied, average carbonation.
Good, nice incorporation of the strawberries but too sour.

I drank this last night while I was already drunk and it tasted sour. Now it’s morning, I’m at work and I’m hungover as fuck.

Fuck you.

P.S. - Eat shit.

Poured a pinkish color with aromas of tart funk barnyard with subtle strawberries. Flavors are tart strawberries with wet wood and light vinegar with some sour fruit decent lambic.

Upland keep los it on their fruit sours. All seem so well balanced from fruit to oak to musty barnyard characters. This one had great strawberry aroma that added to their dimension from the funky tart brews. a++

Shared at a tasting hosted by Steve Hackley on September 25. Thanks Steve! This was poured from a 750 mL bottle. The pour is a darker orangey pink color with a thin off-white head and no lace at all as it dissipates. I’ve noticed that strawberries aren’t very dominant when it comes to flavoring sours, and this is just another example. There is a light strawberry in it, but the bright sour lemon and funky oak really take the fruit away. It’s a good sour aroma, but the strawberry just kind of takes a back seat. The flavor is a bit better. There seems to be a little more fruit present and riding the sour from start to finish. There is a good oakiness that carries through the length as well. I like the funk and the sharp strawberries. The mouth feel is excellent. There is a nice sharp carbonation and a lingeringly sour strawberry finish. It is dry, tart, and crisp. Just lingers for days. Great sour.

Rose color pour oink head that stuck around for a time. Tar strawberry aroma and lemon peel lingering in it. Some oak and funk. Taste of light oak and tart strawberries. Finished oaky and dry with strawberries on to the end. Really nice brew.
