Dark mainly because of the heavy yeast cloudiness, not from dark malt, so its not a dunkel weizen. Very cloudy copperish color, big rocky white head. Sweet and spicy nose with mainly clove and lemon zest. Flavor also clovey and lemony, with only the smallest hint at banana. Quite characterful and refreshing. Perfect match for the bratwurst served at the brewpub. tallmatt67 (99) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 1, 2003
(bottled). Orange amber color, cloudy. Enticing wheat and spice aroma. Subdued banana, lemon zest, and clove carried on a bed of wheat. Medium-bodied and decidedly not thin. Lingering sweet yeasty flavor. This isn't from Germany? fraternie (1011) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 14, 2001
A very innovative and enjpysble hefe. Strong, crisp banana flavor followed by green apple malt. Dark dunkel body, a little bit of a yeasty flavor. wnoble (1251) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 23, 2012
On tap at Bloomington pub. Pours gold with little head. Nose is strong spices and various bright citrus with background notes of bananas and pears. Flavor is again spicy, lightly citrusy, light bananas, pears, and apples. Also some light vanilla in the finish. Drinkable. Low in malt richness but flavorful. Heavy on the spices. Moderate carbonation. Liked it. BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - MAY 25, 2003
On tap at Upland- Unfiltered brown "apple cider" look with a little head and some lace. Banana, sour apple, spicy, and lemony aroma. Traditional hefeweizen taste: wheat, yeast and lemon detected. Smooth on the palate with a lingering yeast aftertaste. A nice version of an hefeweizen.

A dark weizen that took me by surprise.Medium head with nice malty aroma.Taste is fruity with lemon and apple the two main flavors. As this beer finishes you will get a little taste of yeast. Interesting weizen by this brewery. jgb9348 (6194) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - DEC 18, 2003
Hazy amber colour with a dense, fast-dying tan head. Aroma almost purely of yeast. Some spice and coriander seed comes out, but a bit of sweetness is also noticed. In addition, I definately smell some hops in the nose of this one! Medium to Full-bodied; Spicey sweet initial flavour with some cloves and wheat popping through. Aftertaste actually very mild and subtle-only characterising a bit of the wheat and yeast characteristics. Overall, a very nice wheat, although the beer is a bit dark (just as the Commercial Description notes) compared to others in the style. Overall, definately worth trying and is a fairly good representation of the style from Americans! I was lucky enough to get this twelve ounce bottle in a recent trade with BigBadBear63 and sampled it on 18-December-2003. Thanks again Mike! unclemike (3115) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - JUN 18, 2008

Tepid sunflower gold with a thin white head. Nose is strong wheat, light banana and lemon. Flavor is more wheat, a bit dirty, some crisp lemon and grape in the lengthy finish. A bit strong to be sessionable, but definitely enjoyable. TheDean (786) - MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 22, 2005
Sweet auroma, and a nice pour. Taste resembles the auroma. Interesting beer that taste dead.
