Part of a sampler tray at the brewery. Poured a dark brown with a light tan head and minimal lacing. Smelled of smoked malt, with chocolate, peat, and maybe even a bit of smoked salmon. Flavor was brown sugar, smoked malts, peat and a little bit of sweetness. Very easy drinking for a smoked style beer, smooth on the palate and warming in the belly. 5 ounce sample on tap at the brewery. Aroma is peaty, smoky, with mild sweetness and some anise notes. Nicely aromatic. Mildly hazy amber-ruby body with an off-yellow head. Peated, barnyard, smoky start. Some burnt popcorn flavors follow. This has a real smooth body. Finishes with a bit of a dryness and nice bitter hoppiness. On tap at the Alibi Room in Vancouver. Nearly no head - but what it has it keeps. Soft nose of peat and some mild fruit and strong clean malt. Body is round, smooth and refreshing. Lightly smoked, and well balanced. Finish is a fruity malty sweetness, not cloying at all though. Very enjoyable and pleased all my companions too!

Peat smoke is strong in the nose with a pleasant smooth underlying sweet malt character. Clear brown body is topped by a low off white head that recedes to a partial cover and ring with some lace. Peat smoke is strong and up front with plenty of roasted notes and even a flavour I perceived as iodine. Bitterness is quite pronounced but sweetness comes out especially in the aftertaste. Medium light body with moderate carbonation. Actually quite quaffable if you don’t mind the smoke (and I quite like it). Draught.. Dark red amber with medium head. some was poured off to make an honest pint. Smoky aroma with a fruity note. Clean pour, aroma is strong. Although smooth, the hyper phenolic qualities separate this beer from being anywhere in the tasty realm. Many friends have backed off of it hoping for something to kill the aftertaste.
