COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We just released a draft-only batch called Engelberg Pilsener, named after Mt.Angel. It’s German-style: light, dry and full of hoppy flavor. We made a simple single malt (Canadian pilsener malt) and single hop (Mt. Angel-grown tettnanger) recipe using a Munich lager yeast. The finished beer came out remarkably dry so for the second batch set to be released around the third week of July we coaxed just a bit more mouthfeel and residual sugar out of it and used a different hop variety, hallertauer mittlefruh. The beer is currently on tap in the tasting room and at a handful of bars around town. When the second batch is ready both will be on hand to taste side-by-side. Editor’s note: used to be all-tettnanger, now is tettnanger and hallertauer.

Pint at "b2" taphouse in Salem. $3.00 Simple yellow lager beer with a largish frothy purest white head. Good fresh grassy hop aromas, malt is caramel, bready, nutty Taste is very refreshing zingy, grassy, fruity hop predominates..very light tasing but far from boring . Good palate for the style went down well enough. Good simple lager would have been even better in high summer.

Draught at the brewery. Straw with a thick white head. Floral and spicy noble hop aroma with just a touch of grain. The flavor is very dry and bitter with a big herbal and spicy hop kick and the slimmest of pils malt flavors. Very dry and light in body. Honestly, this felt over-hopped to me, with bitterness pretty much overwhelming the very dry, light malt flavor and body. I can see liking this a lit more with significantly less emphasis on bittering hops but just an much nice lat hop character.

I was really impressed by this. Worked perfectly with pizza. A bit of citrus hoppiness and metallic notes. Poured light yellow.

On tap. A: Straw color, lacking in head. Lots of bubbles. N: Ample pilsner malt and hint of hops. A touch of musty grape. T: Leans towards the bitter with a light touch of sweetness. M: Full mouthfeel. O: Not as refreshing or interesting as Heater Allen, but very clean and good for a hoppier crossover in the style.

Prufrockstar (2132) - Moscow, Idaho, USA - FEB 18, 2014
Draft at Upright a few weeks ago - from notes. Pours clear gold/straw-colored with white head. Aroma: Floral, with just a bit of sulfur. Smells clean, fruity, and crisp. Taste: fruity again; lightly bitter, crisp and tasty. Noticeable hop presence. Overall: easy-drinking, light, flavorful lager.

Had this in July 2010 and forgot to rate it. Colour... hazy goldenrod with a thick head. Nose... eminently hoppy but in a floral sort of way with hints of honeysuckle. Palate... delightfully crisp and fizzy with beeswax, gently hops, lithe and supple floral notes and an ever so slight sweetness on the finish. This was one fabulous beer on the scorching hot day that I drank it, though it’d be fabulous anytime I’m sure!
