Five is a farmhouse pale ale that was born after enjoying a few small production European brews that use a heavy hand of hops. Ours blends several Mt. Angel grown varieties to create a deep and complex flavor with an underlying earthiness. Pale fruit aromas created during the fermentation brighten the profile and bring the beer balance.
Malts: organic pale,organic caramel
Unmalted: rolled barley
Hops: willamette, liberty, perle
Also: xanthohumol (bottles only)

Bottle. Pours cloudy apricot gold with foamy white head. Nose and taste of sugared lemons, apricot, citrus, light biscuit malt, light spicy peppercorn and yeast. Medium body. Excellent beer.

Bottled. 25cl sample. The aroma has light pepper/earth tones, toffee and grainy malts, hint of grass, bit citrus. Bit hazy, copper coloured beer with a huge, white head. The taste is light bitter, quite malty (bread/grain), has hints of pepper, oranges, Overall a bit dull.

Hazy orange with a lot of very solid foam. Smells of wild yeast, wheat and lemon. Medium/Heavy body, quite surprising for the style. Some lemon, some white fruitiness. Big dry bitter finish with a lot of little bubbles exploding at the end of the mouth. The finish is a bit sickening but overall the beer is surprisingly rich and complex. A bit heavy on the stomach.

jefcon (1853) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - MAY 21, 2017
Sour and floral, with a rich mouthfeel and a lengthy, bright palate. Peach, apricot, pear and hibiscus. Cereal malts and a good backbone.

(Rating #7331)

Bottle in trade from Solidfunk, thanks for the opportunity! Bottle straight out of the fridge had huge carbonation. Murky deep yellow color with a huge frothy off white head that eventually recedes. Lemony tart earthy spicy hoppy nose. Lemon and orange peel in the flavor with earthy spicy resinous to counter. Pretty tasty farmhouse ale.

Bottle. Clear gold in colour with strong carbonation. Strong aromas of apricot and lemon, along with elements of aloe, weeds, and wet stones. More stone fruit on the palate, backed by mild citrus, herbs, and honeyed pale malt. Light bodied with a firm bitterness. I tend to like my saisons skewed towards the hoppy, but I can appreciate the balance here.

On tap. Clear amber color with creamy, off-white head. Aroma is very floral with a quite clean yeast profile, also slightly malty. Taste is also really floral, slightly malty at first but gets more bitter and earthy on the finish. Light body with medium carbonation and slick mouthfeel. A really clean and floral saison, very easy to drink.

mariuspoenari (2692) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - OCT 30, 2016
On tap at Beertemple. Clear amber pour with a nice thick white head. Malty, with clean floral, bretty notes. Medium body and carbonation and a bitter-sweet finish.

(1978-240916)
