Flora Rustica is a Northwest-style saison that use yarrow and calendula flowers along with a handful of our favorite Oregon grown hops to produce a strongly aromatic beer. Its very sparking and dry and makes an excellent aperitif as well as an interesting companion for certain foods like herbaceous and bitter salads or strong and fatty fish like mackerel.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2013 Unique and refreshing saison. A bit high carbonation. SOme funk, apricot, apple, hops, orange. Like a farmhouse as much as a saison. Liams bottle.

98 percentile atm and I still consider this under-rated. Pours hazy light amber, small but lasting head. Aroma is floral, lemon, mild citrus, brett. Flavour is tangerine-like, effervescent, earth, peach. Finish is a bit of lemon and straw. First beer with flowers Ive liked, if it were cheaper it would become my regular go-to summer beer.

750 ml wine-like bottle. Just kidding! I just read that annoying NY Times article. Okay, maybe not so funny. Geez. This beer pours a hazy cantaloupe hue with a large cream-colored head that sticks around for a nice long time; after it recedes it leaves some nifty-looking lace; a constant skiff and island of foam remain on top of the liquid down to the last drop. Aroma is extremely floral and yeasty, with banana, barnyard funk, and custard notes. Taste is not nearly as impressive as the aroma, but its not bad. Its lightly sweet with a firm hop backbone; leaves the mouth dry. Seems a little thin and watery. Overall, again not bad, but there are a lot better farmhouse ales being made right now. I would like to try more from this brewery, but this is the only one available where I live (that Im aware of anyway). As a sidenote, this beer comes in at a staggering wine-like 5.1% ABV!!!! Joking, really.

750 ml. bottle- Pours hazy golden with a two finger white head and nice decorative lacework. Aroma is very floral, sweet similar to honeysuckle, not sure what the flowers they use here smell like, but it smells like intense honeysuckle, some dry hops. The taste is the same, a little less sweet, but floral, dry finish. Body is medium and carbonation is lower than expected, but medium. Enjoyable summer beer, too bad its cold and rainy.

750ml shared by emacgee - thanks, dude! Nice deep golden pour with a fluffy, rocky head. Nose is nicely soft yeast and apple with dry spice, but opens up to include some lovely tartness and mustiness in the taste, like a weird Fantome with sea salt and yarrow. Addition of flowers creates a sense of ripeness, too, and theres also a strong iced tea vibe too.

Aroma is dominated by flowers with a phenolic note to help balance the floral note. Lots of calendula with a spicy yarrow note. The phenolics have a light pepper and coriander note. There is also a bit of citrus and a light fruitiness. Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with a big pillowy white head that slowly but steadily recedes. Huge lacing. Flavor starts with quite a nice floral character along with some citrus that creates a bit of a citrus blossom note. A bit of a sweet honey note. The citrus has a nice lime characteristic to it. There is a bit of a grainy astringency mid palate that lingers a little in the finish. There is a bit of a pepper and coriander note mid palate but this finish is lime and flowers. Medium low bitterness that finishes fairly dry. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium high carbonation. Medium low alcohol warmth and medium to medium astringency. Overall an interesting saison with tons of floral aroma and flavor. That being said, the floral character is a bit overpowering and the astringency is about high. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Soft golden pour with one finger of soft white head. Intense nose and floral character. Very herbal, dill or anise. Lots of herb comes through. Some bready notes and spicy yarrow. Light medium body.

Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike. The beer is orange with a thick white head. Lasting retention and plenty of lacing sticks to the walls of the tulip glass. The aroma offers herbal, floral, and tea notes. Tea and honey flavors, with a pleasant yeast character. Light and easy to drink. Complex and well balanced. Honey sweetness is balanced by tea and herbal notes, slightly dry. Overall, very enjoyable. An outstanding saison. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-01-2012
