Four is truly a light yet flavorful beer. The recipe uses a good portion of wheat and incorporates a sour mash into the process to make it slightly tart and extra refreshing. It has delicate aromas and flavors that span a range of floral, grassy and herbal notes. The finish is extra dry and makes the beer a great beverage to pair with food, especially various cheeses and shellfish.
Malts: organic pale, organic wheat, organic munich
Unmalted: rolled wheat
Hops: hallertauer mittelfrüh

This is a very nice light refreshing beer. I loved the floral aroma emanating from the generous head and the beautifully unique hazy yellow color with a hint of orange. Just wonderful on a sunny afternoon!

Appearance: hazy pale straw with a huge growing fluffy white head, excellent retention and well-defined lacing. (5/5) Aroma: lemon, wheat, crackery malt, floral, light funk. (7/10) Taste: moderate-low sweet, moderate-low bitter, light spicy funk. (6/10) Palate: light body, lively carbonation, bone dry finish. (4/5) Dunno how old this is, but there’s a hint of funk, but no runaway infection. Lightly tart and bone dry make this easily quaffable. It’s not overly complex, but it’s a decent table Saison - assuming you have no qualms about the price, of course. (15/20)

Bottle from 2013. Plenty of cellar aging on this one. Lets see what happened. Pours slightly hazy orange with a large creamy off-white head, that slowly dissipates leaving pretty plentiful residual and nice lacing. Aroma is loaded with floral and honey notes, some grass as well. Flavor is light plus sweet, hint of lemony tartness, honey, floral flavors. Light body with high carbonation. Pretty sweet for my tastes, which I don’t think is a product of cellaring unless there is a reverse button on yeast.

Keg Half Pint at White Horse American Beer Festival 2015, Parsons Green, London in July 2015 - Hazy Yellow in colour. Good head. Good lacing. Malty; wheaty malts. Fruity; lemony citrus, slightly tart. Earthy and herbal. Hoppy; grassy hops. Mildly bitter malty fruity earthy throughout. Bitter and dry finish. Very refreshing tasty saison! (2015-07-04)

Classic saison funk. Thick top, cloudy bottom. A bit of a letdown in the taste. Finishes watery with no real bite. Gotta spice things up with hot fermentation, not ripe enough but refreshing.

(Upright Four (#4)) Bottle 750 ml at home, served into a tulip, ABV 4.5% Pale faded orange coloured body, clear, with a tall white head on top, good density and retention. Honey-like aroma, floral notes, some peach and apricot. Taste is mostly sweet and malty, hints of wood and cork, floral notes, apricot. Medium thin body, carbonation on good levels. Good.

September 2016 - Bottle share at The Tower of Beerbel, with thanks to our host, Leighton. As ’Upright Four’, 4.5%. Very pale yellow, translucent, foamy white head, full lacing. Aroma is biscuity malt sugars, light apple peel. Body is light, foamy, spritzy carbonation. Taste is tangerine, straw, honey, apple with a little woodiness. Quite decent. (3.5)

Leighton’s flat clearance. Thanks to Leighton. Almost clear pale gold beer, big pale cream colour head. Fluffy malts. Woody fruits. Mild spice. Light dry finish. Fluffy woody watery nonsense.

Scopey (15753) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 19, 2016
Bottle thanks to LKS. It pours clear pale gold with thick, foamy white head. The aroma is sweet, white bread, straw, toasty grain, soapy citrus, fragrant and icing sugar. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter - sweet, white bread, lemony sherbet, very soapy, fairy liquid, straw and plenty of floral action, pear and melon with a dry, soapy finish. Medium body and high, foamy carbonation, a bit too sweet and carbonated. Fair.

Bottle shared in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours completely clear yelling w with a big, frothy white head. The nose holds lemon meringue, wheat, light dough. Light to medium sweet flavour with subtle papery notes, more wheat, dough, mild citrus bites, straw. Light bodied with average carbonation. Pretty clean on the finish, some crackers, more lemony notes, doughy wheat, mild yeast expression. Fine.
