Pure Wit is a traditional Belgian-style wheat beer made with coriander, orange peel and a bit of oats. It’s a beer that opens up significantly upon warming with floral aromatics providing a nice contrast to the straightforward grainy flavors. The overall character is distinctly tart and dry, similar to a champagne.

750mL bottle, split 3 ways, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma of sour summer fruits, citrus and some slight sweetness. Flavour is very citric and sour, with light sour citrus fruits, wheat and strong tartness. Not a fan of the tartness in these Belgian wheats. Decent though.

Cloudy and quite pale. Aroma has light coriander, the palate some tartness and a hint of coriander. Not as much body, but has some interesting qualities.

Capped 750 from Made in Oregon at the Portland Airport. Pours a light dishwater gold with a 4 finger creamy white head. With all the head all the aroma coming through is zest. Near med body. It’s quite lush. Flavor is smooth, zesty and fairly floral. Not one of those harsh wits. This one is comfortably laid back. Surpasingly excellent.

"Cool for a wit. Slightly tart and slightly fruity. Orange peel and a bit of biscuit malt. I would not mind having this one again..

Bottle with Doodler and Co. Thanks everyone! Milky, cloudy, light yellow appearance with a white head. Lemon citrusy, yeasty, spicy coriander, orange peel, aroma. Lemon spritzy, spicy yeasty, citrusy tart, orange peel, moderately sour flavor. I’d love to drink this all day. Nice job!

On tap at City Beer S.F. Pours cloudy yellow with a nice white head and spicy aroma. There is a sour wheat flavor with some finishing spices. This is not a typical witbier. Yes, it has mostly the same ingredients: wheat, coriander and orange peel, but it is more fruity and tart. Upright has a way of twisting beer styles to make the brew more interesting.
