Very nice. Lightly funky. Aroma and flavor loaded with dark roasted malt, chocolate and lots of herbals. Very interesting and different. Dry finish but medium bodied. Quite drinkable." Sammy (12623) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 25, 2014
Love the smell of fruit. Definition ale said passionfruit and mango. I also get art peach. Sour tart. Orange with some lace. Nuanced complex. Reynolds314 (3470) - Connecticut, USA - DEC 19, 2012
Tap at prohibition pig. This is interesting although a bit boring. Pours a dark brown pour with lasting light head. Aroma is dough, light mollases, earth, and spices. Taste is a bit watery and bland but drinkable and nice nonetheless. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - DEC 15, 2012

A dark clear brown saison with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, a nice roasted malt with burned toasts and light pepper. In mouth, a very roasted malt with black peppers, dark fruits, molasses, intense yet nice. On tap at brewery, Oct. 5 2012.

On tap at Upright tasting room, pours a dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma of rye, dark grains, yeast and toasted crusty bread. Flavour brings out the rye and toasted crusty bread upfront; nice and grainy, full of artisan wheat bread. Very complex and lots of depth. One of the best black saisons I’ve had. biggirlpanties (194) - Oceanside, California, USA - OCT 11, 2012
Growler thanks to GT2 via brainlair. Fully black pour, near pitch black, could be imperial stout. Big, forthy, creme colored head. Great lacing. Aroma is sweet fruits, raisin, soft, Abbey Dubbel character....clean scent. Pleasant, soft, touch of raisin. Taste is roasty, almost like a mix of saison and porter, saison floral and herbal character with porter chocolate/roast. Palate is not too heavy, some Fall leaf and tea notes. Palate is well balanced, bitter coffee, a little sharp with muddy coffee grounds. GT (10002) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 11, 2012
Growler thanks to brainlair. My 200th saison rating! Pours a clear deeper cola, enormous, four finger, tan head. Massive formation and sheen appearance, rocky retention. 360 webby beige lacing. Nose is stickier malt, maple, toffee, Scotch Ale nose, chocolate covered cherries, sweet cola. Taste is toasty, spicy, black tea, dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is soft, spicy Mexican dark chocolate, hints of chipotle. Palate is quenching, thicker, soft. Really nice. Almost the opposite of the black saison I had last night, Green Flash Friendship Brew. Palate is fantastic, very refreshing and quenching despite the sharp roast, chocolate, and coffee. A very successful rendition of a near impossible style to create: black saison.
