Draft at the brewery. Deep brown body with a tan head. Aroma, flavor and body are very much in-line with a standard Porter, much more roast-heavy than you ever find in German schwarzbier and much less black patent char, though the soy sauce and charred wood character is quite strong. Medium to full body, chewy with frothy carbonation and moderately low bitterness. Lagered for three weeks but honestly I don’t see it. Very ale-ish.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head. A big nose of chocolate, earthy malt, roast. The flavor is similar: tobacco, huge coffee, some dark chocolates, ash, nutty. On tap at Upright, pours a cloudy dark amber brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and some dry toasted nuts. Flavour brings out dry cocoa, toasted malt and a nutty quality. Very light an watery on the palate. Not a robust schwarz at all, but decent enough. Not one of Upright’s best.
