On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a hazy dark orangey amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out notes of port liqueur, whiskey, a little caramel malt and some rye still present. Flavour brings out a combination of whiskey and port barrel notes upfront, along with some underlying caramel malt sweetness. Not really much presence of the rye, except for the slightly thicker body. Very full-bodied, almost chewy, with great use of the barrels. Great stuff. jtclockwork (17264) - , New Jersey, USA - FEB 24, 2012
Bottle 58 of 59 thanks to Steve. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose/taste of cocoa, whiskey barrel, toasted grain, port wine, sour cherry, yeast, vanilla and orange peel. Complex flavor profile melds well. Slight tartness. Medium body. j12601 (13094) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - FEB 24, 2012
Bottle number 58/59 at a tasting at James’ place courtesy of fbm115, thanks Steve. Pours a clear ruby and garnet color with a thin white head. Whisky and wine on the nose, grapes and toasted wood. The wood is very nice. Soft musk, very clean and cool. Medium bodied, barrel definitely coming through here, port and whiskey show up, playing nicely with the saison notes. Light sourness, not overly sour, but remarkably interesting and new. Very cool. deyholla (12195) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 24, 2012
Bottle. Pours a deep hazy amber with an off-white head that remains throughout the beer. Aroma has a very strong port note wit a bit of underlying earth grains and funk. Flavor is barrel forward as well with some underlying tartness, earthy grains and a hint of funk. JaBier (8235) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUL 29, 2012
Bottle sampled at Muckfest III. Clear red pour with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel, malt, toffee and a bit of tartness. Malty and caramelly flavor with some fruit and a bit of tartness in the finish.

Bottle shared at MuckFest 3 - Saturday Edition. Pours a richer copper reddish hue, gentle kiss of haze with some deep glowing hues. A touch frothy, offwhite head with a mellow ring, laces small. Aromas are touches of sour cherries and raspberries. Gentle red wine elements, oak, some tart to sour lactic presence, gentle brett. Kiss of vanilla, with red fruit, red wine. Really striking. Initial is a bit different, more tame with some red wine elements, gentle tannins and oak, smoothed out vanilla. Some firm red fruit, berry and cherry, some gentle red wine, berry, touches of toasty malts, kiss of toffee, and biscuits. Mellow lactic presence. Subtle with some richer berry, some red wine. Subtle, a bit thin. Solid. Aromas and appearance are great. riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - SEP 29, 2013
Sweet but tangy jammy notes on the nose, darker fruit, definite sweet whiskey barrel nose. Brown sugar and vanilla. Auburn pour, thin off white head sheets of soft lace. Flavors of mild tangy darker fruit sweeter whiskey barrel notes, brown sugar vanilla and wood. Moderate carbonation, lingering woody notes, jammy port. Interesting beer. Bottle at a recent Upright Sole Composition tasting. Served in a Mikasa tulip.
Pours a somewhat-cloudy amber-tawny color with a small off-white head that eventually fall to a thin cap, leaving behind a bit of spotty lacing.
The nose carried a bit of brown sugar and toffee with some light yeast in the background. Some dark fruit and earth character with just a touch of tobacco. The barrel character came through with mostly bourbon, though there was a bit of port in the background. Some raisin there as well. Long duration with a very light acidity and a touch of bitterness.
Medium body with light carbonation and a semi-dry finish. The barrel character was quite nice in this one and I really liked the finish, though I could have gone for a bit more port character. All in all, a nice and interesting beer that is worth seeking out. rondphoto (4494) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - SEP 12, 2015
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Hazy dark amber color, tan head, bands of lace. Aroma of caramel malt. Taste is sweet malt that grows into a fizzy swallow, turning from that to minimal hops for balance. Straight-forward, a solid balanced sweet brew. andrewje41 (4241) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - DEC 30, 2015
Draft 10 oz pour at Upright. Cool to see this gem on tap. Guess I’ll have to work with their hours a little more and get here more often. This is good stuff. Very interesting floral aroma that mocks no other beer. A bit on the soapy side, but not in a bad way. Not a fantastic brew, but bonus points for prime uniqueness. Good beer.
