hazy plum, thick white large bubbled head, heavy lacing. Sweeter bread-crust nose, light cherry acidity, softly reminiscent of de dolle reserva 20, green brown sugar oxidation included. Sugary, light metallic ester front palate, peppery dark grains (pumpernickel), light gum amidst moderately waxy body. Nutty mid palate, watery with oxidized hints before soft plum sugar and date finish, lightly oaky and dry oxidation through the end. Needs more carbonation and body.. age showing in this, but definite balance and malt strength appropriate for a Biere de garde with barrel age acidity balancing nicely.
Pour is transparent brown with a full tan head. Nose has a strong malt characteristic, faint mint, some fruity brett, and berry aroma. Flavor is a bit more malt, definitely some oxidation, lighter brett/fruit character. Fuller body, softer carb, light acidity and some bitterness through the finish. douglas88 (9891) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 24, 2014
Bottle shared by the guys at Upright, the 5th Anniversary Party. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a medium white head. A sour fleshy cherry nose, some funk and cheese. Lively fruit, caramel, dry leaves, sawdust, oak, some oxidation, a mellow toffee and funky edges. Very nice. Bottle 28 of 62. hopscotch (11526) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 20, 2014
Bottle... This beer rocks!... Clear dark-caramel pour with glimmers of mahogany and a small, fizzy, white head. The nose is of rich caramel, red grapes, dry red wine and mildly cheesy funk. Full-bodied with a skim-milk mouthfeel and lively carbonation. The flavor is lightly tart and caramely, accompanied by fruity splashes of red and white wines. Finishes tart and a touch dry. Muchos kudos to landhoney for providing yet another world class beer from the good folks at Upright Brewing Company! harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - NOV 18, 2013

From the Facebook page: A blend of French style biere de garde and English style old ale, Provision has a profile reminiscent of several historic brews but remains distinct onto itself. The biere de garde portion was openly fermented with the brewery’s house lager yeast at 60F, producing a full, malty base that maintained a crisp finish. That was blended post fermentation with the old ale, then put back into the cask for over one year where it gained a bit of acidity and aged flavors that give the Provision a layered depth that’s fun to pick apart. Inspired by the great Liefmans Goudenband, the Provision will cellar well like the classic from Oudenaarde.

Nice garnet beer with a solid quilt of caramel foam that is soapy and loose. Smells of grain, oak, pie cherries, tart cranberry, a touch of tea and peppercorn. Nice spicy malt, a near rye character, wood, nice acetic tartness, slight bitterness, some more pie cherry and the slightest touch of mulling spice. The tartness is nice and moderated. Medium bodied with sharp carb and a dry finish. Nice beer from the folks at Upright. I’m consistently impressed by their beers.

Somewhat raisiny notes with some tangy dark fruit underneath. Some sweeter residual sugar notes as well. Woody tangy, almost even minty. Auburn pour, tannish bubbly head. Flavors of dry woody tang. Definite darker fruit notes. Woody with pleasant sweetness. Very interesting. tangy woody musty finish. Good carbonation. Lingering musty wood and tangy fruit. Really solid. mathieuc (4000) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 13, 2013
Bottle shared by Hoppypocket, thanks a lot man! Pours a clear amber/brown with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly fruit and lactic, hinting at a tart beverage. Body is light. Taste is tart, quite unusual for a bière de garde for me (I haven’t had enough) but oh so enjoyable. Really good! czar (9795) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 12, 2013

750 ml bottle shared with Tom and chums. Pours a clear reddish copper with a nice white head. Aroma is caramel and boozey. Flavor is sweet, barley candy, red berries, oldish/dusty. Finish is vinegary, some tartness...or is it just remnants of the previous beers? I’m already losing it. Sorry guys. Light body, weak to average carbonation. Hey, pretty good, okay. Pretty good. tom10101 (6341) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 12, 2013
Bottle (750 ml). Shared by hoppypocket, thanks! Almost clear amber with a small off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is light but interesting with notes of red fruits, caramel, brettanomyces and wood. Taste is slightly sweet and almost as light as the aroma with notes of caramel, red fruits, wood, mineral and even more subtle acetic notes. Light to medium body. Low to moderate carbonation. Everything is subtle in this beer, but it’s drinkable and enjoyable. Good balance. Fun.
