On tap at BeerCraft. Pours a strange murky rusty color with a light tan head. Aroma doesn’t jump out of the glass but it’s very pleasant. Smooth whiskey without any heat, chocolate, cherries, red wine. Flavor is awesome: chocolate and caramel sweetness, tempered by rich red wine grapes and characterful whiskey. Reminds me of Crooked Stave’s dark wild beers. Fantastic stuff. Also, classifying this as a saison is crazy.

Draft at Upright a few weeks ago - from notes. Pours murky tamarind with some offwhite head. Aroma: oak, whisky and wine; sweet cereal; light balsamic. Quite a bit of whisky (yeah!). Taste: Brown sugar, vanilla, oak, with just a nice bit of tartness to remind me this is wild. Palate: full body, slick texture. Overall: Yeah! Of the set, this is my favorite after 4-play. After seeing it classified as a saison (both on RB and on the Sole Comp bottles), I have to say there’s almost no way I would have identified it as a saison by taste. On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark copper color with a small white head. The aroma is big whiskey, malt, light spices, some heat. The flavor is big whiskey, light toffee, earthy sweet malts, caramel, berries, sweet fruit. Loads of barrel. Heat.
