Bottle 36 of 46. Served in a cervoise. Pours a brown-amber and fairly clear. Nose has a bit of barrel and some rye plus a bit of bread. Flavor is more toward the gin. Spice and herbal character. Dry and a bit crisp. Moderate body. Interesting, but not my favorite of the Sole Comp series. jtclockwork (16561) - , New Jersey, USA - JUN 9, 2012
Bottle 33 of 46 shared at tasting at my house. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose/taste of spearmint, mint leaves, cocoa, grape, dark fruit and gin berry with a sour malt finish. Medium body. deyholla (11597) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 24, 2012
Bottle. Pours a cloudy deep amber with a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a strong menthol note with some light tart fruit and a whiskey barrel backing. Flavor has light sour fruit and menthol with a backing whiskey note. An odd combination. arminjewell (9635) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - NOV 2, 2011
The whiskey barrel that tastes like gin. Bottle number 21/46 huge thanks to Scott for the tasting. Pour was clear orange with white head, aroma brought notes of toffee, caramel, gin notes (i kid you not, the whiskey smelled and tasted like gin) some slight floral notes, hints of some fruit and herbs in there as well. Taste is an interesting mix of some slight fruity notes, piney gin-like flavors mixing with some herbs, hints of sweet caramel, finishing slightly dry. Different, for sure. Bottle with Doodler and Co. Thanks everyone! Dark brown appearance with a tan head. Piney, gin, berry, a touch tart, fruity aroma. Dry, tangy raspberry, gin berry, moderately sour flavor. Interesting beer. Gription79 (2890) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - JUL 10, 2011
Thanks Sam. This beer was awesome. Nose was spicy, fruity, grainy malts, and some whiskey. Taste was toasted malts, notes of cherries, and tart (Lacto? Brett?) Tasty. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 1, 2011
Courtesy of Sam, thanks! Bottle 14/46 pours amber – ruby red with tan head. The aroma is soured cherries, a thin layer of spicy black strap molasses, some spicy black licorice and spicy oak wood notes. The taste is modestly sour and tart and seems to move into sour cherries, some acidity and growing to bright levels of tartness. Sledutah (7518) - Utah, USA - APR 20, 2011

Appearance: Hazy dark amber with a huge beige head and good lacing
Aroma: Whiskey (tequila?), tart fruits and caramel
Taste: Toasted malts, whiskey, dark fruit and grainy
Bottle number 14/46 thanks to Sam picked up at the brewery. Pours a murky brown color with a medium beige head. A light bourbon nose, some sour fruits, cherries, dark sweet grains. The flavor is a complex and unusual beast; sour Flemish Brown-like qualities, toasted malts, rich grains, earthy and herbal, bourbon, a sour mash like quality. Interesting.
