Sample at the Flatiron Park taproom. Pours a dark brown color with ruby around the edges, and a medium foamy beige head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, fruit and yeast. Full-bodied with a vinous oak character and flavors of earthy yeast, dark fruit and grainy malt. The finish is oaky and fruity with a mild bourbon aftertaste. On tap at Hops and Pie poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of red wine, oak, tobacco, toffee and light carmel. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. On tap at Avery Sour Fest poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of tobacco, oak, carmel, cherry and grapes. Palae was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of tobacco, oak and grapes with a crisp dry finish.
Pour on tap at Avery Sourfest 2012, dark brownish pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of funky red wine, rotten fruits, slight caramel, dark red ripe fruits, hints of oak, a slight vegetal note as well with some minerals coming through. (Draught) Pours a cloudy dark brown body with a medium cream head. Aroma of wood, toasted grain, ash, raisins, and dark candi sugar. Flavor of raisins, wood, ash, pine, and coconut.
@ Avery Sourfest 2012. Dark dark brown with a thin beige head. Amazing aroma of dark figs, raisins, candy sugar, and licorice. Taste is much the same, with just a touch of sourness on the finish. Very dark and sweet notes of Belgian dark fruitiness, like fig and raisin with a touch of caramel and cherries, finishing on candy sugar and light sour yeast notes on the finish. Lovely.

Aroma is cedar, light acetic and balsamic vinegar, dates, figs, chocolate and toast malt, and earthy hops. Tap at 3rd Annual Boulder SourFest (06-02-2012). Poured a dark, dark brown, almost black with a small khaki head. Smell is boozy, whisky, caramel, and brown sugar; very reminiscent of a stout in the aroma. Taste is molasses, char, light tartness, some coffee, and really just a mess. Medium body with no carbonation. This beer isn’t quite sure what it wants to be and is just all over the place. Bleh.
