3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can. Pours extremely dark, tan head. Smells a little smokey, kinda bready. Medium body, much lighter than expected. Very carbonated, kinda flavorless. Some bitterness at the end. I would say this is a miss. Pretty disappointed actually.
Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer served a pitch black color with a one finger head of cream colored foam. The head has a moderate level of retention, fading to leave some rings of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is big of a roasted malt smell along with hints of chocolate and a little bit of caramel and molasses. Along with these aromas comes notes of vanilla and a little bit of crème.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice roasty base that has a light level of caramel and milk chocolate sweetness. Along with these flavors are notes of vanilla, which grow stronger in nature, along with a little bit of more earthy hop taste. The sweetness grows stronger in nature as the taste advances and is joined by some other darker flavors of coffee and a little bit of molasses. With some light woody tastes and a hint of herbal hop coming at the end, one is left with a lightly sweetened and chewy, but easy and flavorful dark flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is average. I would have liked a little lower carbonation for the dark flavors of the brew, but overall it was pretty decent due to its nice moderately dry character.
Overall – This was a rather enjoyable foreign extra stout. The abv. of 6.9 is very hidden rather well. It is a little sweeter then what I am accustomed to for the style, but very enjoyable and flavorful none the less.

Tap at Cottonwood in Houston. Super dark pour with a beige head. Roasty and sweet. Delivers more on appearance and smell than taste and palate. But decent.

Sweet malty aroma, licorice root, milk chocolate, berry.
Pours black with small creamy brown head
Sweet malt with a slight raspberry like sourness, caramel, milk chocolate
Medium bodied with medium high CO2, lingering sweet sour finish.
Enjoyable FES. I prefer the fruity side to the FES opposed to roasty ones. Interesting. Makes me want to continue drinking it. Like the sour touch

A- Roasty, cocoa, subtle dark fruits.
A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head.
T- Roasty, dry, bitter, cocoa.
P- Medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, dry finish.
O- Naturally, I hate the visible yeast. Beyond that, I’ve heard a lot of negativity surrounding Upslope, don’t know a lot about it but this beer certainly wasn’t positive. Yes, I had it on the last day before the "best by" date (which I have never really seen on a stout before) but it lacked a lot of dimension other than having a lot of dry bitter cocoa and roasty. markducommun (1213) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 19, 2015
Deep opaque black brown with a minimal tan head. Coffee and dark chocolate, molasses, some light licorice notes. Quite bitter, some sweetness. Heavy body, carbonated, long oily finish. Quite good. blutt59 (6576) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 8, 2015
