Aroma: dry and roasty; Appearance: pitch black with thin off white head that barely lingers; Taste: follows nose with classic stout flavors; Palate: medium-heavy body with long, dry finish; Overall: decent for a stout but nothing special. drjay44 (3950) - Salida, Colorado, USA - FEB 7, 2017
12 oz. can. BBD April 05 17. Pours a thick, well retained, beige head, with moderate lacing, over a clear black brown (SRM 40) body.....nose is heavy roasted malts, with chocolate, coffee, slight toffee/caramel, mild hop spice, balance to the malts.......taste to start is lightly sweet with toffee/caramel tones, mild lactose notes, coffee, chocolate from the roasted malts, slight oats, becoming dry with light bitterness on the finish.....mouth feel medium light slightly sticky, mildly creamy body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. The oats are a bit light for the style and as a result the body is a bit light. A light increase in the malt bill, primarily oats, would correct.
