COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A copper ale with slight corn sweetness balanced by tartness. Intoxicating aroma of subtle fruit, earthy hops, and wood. Deceptively drinkable.

Story: No longer does corn shine vibrantly with blues, reds, and yellows. The beauty was lost some time ago just as many great styles of beer were during prohibition. Maize revitalizes the long-lost Kentucky Common style originating just down the road in Louisville, Kentucky.

Chudwick (3367) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - JUN 24, 2016
Draft at brewery - nose is corn and grain. Sip adds dough and a buttery tartness of some source. The tartness helps the style. Decent balance. A tough style well done.

JStax (7175) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - NOV 27, 2015
Draft sample. The beer is a clear copper color with a white heqd of velvety foam. The aroma is subtly bready and crackery. The taste is moderately sweet, and has more bready character than anything. I thought this would be sour, but I guess not. Lighter to medium body and low carbonation.

Bottle sample. Clear kind of darker red color. Thin off-white head, leaving some loose bits and short ropes of lace. toasty malt, berry, other dark fruit, good bit of earthy hop. Moderate sweet taste, nice lighter sourness, mild bitter. Corn is more subtle than expected. Lighter to medium body. Kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Mild slick. Good bit of cream in the aftertaste. Bit of chocolate. Solid, easy-drinking. Tasty, interesting stuff. Good with my sandwich.

Tap. Poured a clear brown color with an average off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good aroma of spice, yeast, corn and wood. Medium body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & spice flavor with a complex sweet finish of medium duration. Interesting complex brew.
