COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heed these words of advice when you drink this beer - "Be very, very careful lest you be a daft fool!" If you’ve never had a Barley Wine (which is actually a beer) before, then here’s what you should know- This is an intense beerstyle. Stylistically speaking it can range widely; from being fruity to hoppy in aroma and flavor, from being amber to dark brown in color, and from being mildly heavy to downright tractor-beam-pulling in body, but make no mistake, it is always...always high in alcohol. So again "lest you be Daft...please imbibe with care". (Snifter) Stats: ABV 9.2% IBUs 48 OG 21.0 Plato

Draft at Global Brew EDW. Almost opaque darker brown. Just a little beige head. The nose is pumpkin domiinated but the flavor begins like a barleywine. Huge malts and complex fruit. Dark fruit, too. A lot going on here. Pumpkin is noted and it is accopanied by spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon. Some heat is noted but it is not overly obtrusive. Bread and graham crackers are some of the malt flavors. Again, a lot going on, and all of it is good. Well done!

Bottle Braukunst Live Munich. High creamy lasting white head. Hazy dark brown body. Sour lemon aroma. Sweet cocoa caramel flavor with little hops bitterness and a short finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is dark fruit and booze. Similar flavor to nose with candy sugar and nice alcohol presence, very good.

EtTuCthulhu (1391) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - DEC 13, 2014
The appearance is an opaque brown color with a large off-white head. The aroma blends bourbon, toffee, brown sugar, and toasted malts. The taste is quite boozy, mildly sweet, and a touch umami, and the aftertaste is somewhat astringent with booze but still sweet. The palate fuses an oily texture, medium-light body, and a flat carbonation.

(bottle) pours a murky ruby-brown colour with a frothy light beige head. aroma of walnuts, pineapple and caramel, heavily oxidized, with notes of fudge, gooseberries, some light alcohol and strawberries. flavour is mostly the same, again quite oxidized, with lots of alcohol and brown sugar, raisins and a dry finish. slightly thin-bodied with soft carbonation.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours reddish color with a white head. Taste whiskey, earthy, strong. I thought this was so so. I would pass on this next time. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
