COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tis the season to ‘spruce’ up a beer…literally. OT is an aggressively ‘pined’, higher ABV, palate smacker that gets its name from the nearly 10,000 year old Norway Spruce living in the climes of Sweden. Like its namesake this beer is dark, complex and fantastically fragrant. OG – 15.0 Plato

Drat Grove location. Black beer with ghost white head. Aroma is strong spruce. Fresh and light pine but strong. Light bodied beer, light tingling carbonation. Less strong pine flavor, malty earth. Lightly dry finish. Haven’t had good spruce beer in a while. Provides a strong pine aroma, lighter flavor, and even lighter and easier base beer that still complements the spruce.

Dark brown, large head. Very piney, spicy aroma. Thick palate with a very woody and piney flavor, heavily carbonated. Finishes almost licorice. You have to like pine to enjoy a full pour if this.

A very unique flavor. It has a deep spruce flavor that can turn some people off, but it is very unique and with a try. Has a malt spruce aroma and caramel color with a foamy head. The flavor is a malty spruce, and the spruce flavor is very deep. It can shock you at first.

On tap at the source. Pours a nearly opaque cloudy dark brown with a full off white head. Aroma is like (don’t take this the wrong way) a watered down Pine Sol or Mr. Clean. Taste is sweet caramel malt and a bit of buttered biscuits, but the spruce oil dominates. Well balanced and pretty good, but definitely a bit odd.

Pour is a dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is pine sol with a mix of herbs and spices. Flavor is an eye opening spruce with not much else. This was way heavy on the spruce tips. I did not know what spruce tasted like but I do now. Kinda needed to lower the spruce b/c that’s all I got and then some. No way I could drink a lot of this without feeling overwhelmed.

Draft at urban, pour amber with white Head. Aroma has fresh spruce, sappy, some dark fruits. Flavors strong with spruce, loaded with free qualities, kinda comes off like floor cleaner. Spruce is over done.

One finger head, mostly diminishing, dark brown amber, clear, pine aroma, tastes like a spruce tree smells, medium body.

Very interesting beer. My first tasting of a spruce beer, and I like it! Brown with red notes and a decent head and lace. Monstrous spruce smell and taste, but not overblown at all. It’s very woody though. There’s some malt and hops balance, but it’s mostly spruce. Medium body and quite drinkable. I’d love to have this one again.

Smells like a car air freshner. Way too much spruce. I like spruce, but this is overwhelming.

Draught at brewery. Very unique beer. Big spruce aroma in nose. Wintergreen. Pine needles. Evergreen. A little bit like floor cleaner. Worth tasting, but beyond a tasting, I couldn’t drink much more.
