Tasted on tap at brewpub. Poured a very dark brown color, reddish when held to the light, thin but dense beige foam, lingering with some Belgian lace. Aromas of roasted grains, burnt sugar, charred hardwood, fruity ale yeast esters, faint perfumy blend of hops, vanilla and alcohol. Rich malty taste, some residual melanoidin sweetness balanced by sharp bitterness of roasted grain and faint tangy hops, notes of dark coffee and chocolate, plums, cherries, raisins and assorted baking spices, a tad too much vanilla for me. Strong resemblence to gingerbread, fruitcake, and molasses crinkle cookies. Heavy body, low carbonation, long-lasting balanced bittersweet syrupy aftertaste. A decent Imperial Stout. Recommended. Draft at taproom. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Doesn’t leave much lacing in the glass. Big malt on the nose as well as big booze as well. Kinda sweet on the tongue. Could have used more hope for balance. Finishes clean. Not really feeling this one. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - MAR 21, 2015
Had on tap at their place. Pours very dark brown. Very roasty aroma. Flavor is roasty and dry. Light bodied. Good beer.

Draft to taster. Looks good; a fairly opaque dark cold with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of dark malt, molasses, dark chocolate, and roast. Tastes like it smells, but less robust, with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Not bad, but thin and underwhelming.

From notes. Tasted on 6/5/13 on draft at the brewpub during a baseball trip with Adam and Taylor. Pours deep auburn, almost black, with an average tan head that leaves thin lace. The nose is molasses, dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, and a touch of vanilla. The flavor is nicely integrated, with the molasses and vanilla sweetness up front, moving to the more roasted bitterness from dark chocolate and cocoa nibs. The body is full with quite a lot of carbonation and a long molasses and coffee finish. RobertDale (6755) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - APR 2, 2013

Poured from tap a dark espresso with a khaki head. Aroma of roasted malt, slight coffee, black licorice, and slightly boozy. Very reserved in smell. Tastes of espresso, roasted malt, toffee, and umami. Fair mouth feel.

Poured from tap a near black with a Khaki head. Aroma of roasted malts and slight licorice. Tastes of licorice, roasted malts, some cocoa, and ends with a smoky flavor. ogiergrove (120) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Wow! A dangerously sessionable imperial stout. Strong coffee on the nose, rich dark brown (definitely not black) color. Pleasant toasty notes and an effervescent mouthfeel. Not over the top like many modern examples of the style.
