Hoppy American Wheat - "De gustibus non est disputandum." (Latin for "In matters of taste, there is no argument") This expression certainly captures the spirit of Triticum (Latin for wheat) to a tee. We brewed this example of the "hops-showcasing" American Wheat to demonstrate why this up and coming style provides a "taste" that makes it worthy competitor to the beloved American IPA. Utilizing a hops blend of Polaris and the never-before released Stamm 36 (both experimental varieties from Hallertau) weve crafted a beer that has an amazing nose of citrus (most specifically mandarin orange) and a cooling-type flavor that our brewmaster describes as glacial candy mixed with bitter orange jam. Its a most excellent challenger to the American IPA...care to argue???

It poured a very light copper color with a small white head. The aroma was of a bit of wheat along with some floral and citrus hops. The taste was of hops that tend to take over a bit more in the flavor. It was a light body and a very dry finish beer. It was fairly bitter with some wheat there as well. Very good.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours orangish with a white head. Taste oranges, floral. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Pour us cloudy gold with a small white head. Aroma is faintly floral and spicy with a very slight hop presence. Flavor is mostly wheat malt with a hint of fruit and spice. Not too much hop coming through. A bit watered down - not a wheat beer and not an IPA. Very drinkable and not at all offensive or harsh, but not much character. I like this brewery but this was not a great effort.

On tap at Urban Chestnut on Jan 11th. Pours a hazy golden color with white head. Wheat, malty, slight yeast flavors. A little off, not sure what it is.

Tap @ Urban Chestnut. Pours a hazy golden appearance with a white head. Zesty lemon, citrusy hoppy, herbal aroma. Juicy, orange/tangerine, slightly grainy flavor. Easy to drink.

January 8, 2013 on tap at brewpub. Cloudy yellow pour with some head. Citrus and grain in aroma and taste. A solid wheat beer, but a touch too much bitterness in the finish for what I want in this style.

Draft at Urban Chestnut. Hazy orange-gold with a sticky white head. Nose is a bit meaty, pretzels & wheat, orange blossom and grass. Citrus. On tasting, its a bit muddier. Lightly citrus, medium bitterness. Grassy and earthy, more of the meaty grain notes. Better as it goes on but the hops are a bit lost, imo.

A nice beer amber color and ample head. Slight citrus aroma and crisp taste. The hops come through but do not overpower the taste. Good on a warm sunny day.

Draft at urban, pours hazy gold with white head. Aroma has sweet bread, floral hop notes. Flavors fall on the sweeter side, dough malt notes, real floral and salty character.

(tap at tasting room) hazy gold/orange. Aroma of citrus. Flavor is wheat malt and an interesting hops blend: pineapple, appricot, orange (some apple as it warms), a little earthy.
