Lovely amalgamation of styles. Not really a brown ale or a weissen. The chestnuts add earthy, nutty complexities that partner well with the phenolic yeast. Wonderful from the tap at UCBC. Would have rated higher in the bottle i’m drinking of it now tasted as good.
Pours a slightly hazy deep brown on tap worth fluffy off-white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of mild nutty and toasted malt notes over a sweet middle and German yeasty ending. Taste is like a darker German alt beer, don't really get any wheat or associated weisse esters. Not bad, different for sure. coachd (942) - Missouri, USA - MAR 31, 2017
Sweet malty aroma. Nice amber color with an off white head. Taste is also sweet with a nutty aftertaste. Slightly metallic, that takes it down a notch. Rich low carbonation palate. This is an interesting take on a brown ale.

Keg at the Midtown location, 12/17/16. Clear dark brown, large creamy offwhite head, good retention. Aroma of nuts, caramel, stone fruit. The taste is stone fruit, caramel, nuts. Medium bodied. katrinaez (2306) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 11, 2016
On the old system. Nice beer. Not too hoppy, but heavier than a regular ale or lager. Didn’t really taste any chestnut flavors out of the ordinary. Can’t remember if it was tap or bottle FatPhil (17148) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - AUG 12, 2016

Corny sour aroma. Harsh honey diacetyl. Thin palate, watery, a bit fizzy. Branny taste, rough. Crazy corny taste. So much diacetyl. Very rough. ooooofhhh
500ml bottle (random place). Hazy amber color. Small size, white head, stays. Apples, sour, yeasty, metallic in aroma. Metallic, apples, sticks, yeasty, sweet in taste. Metallic and harsh herbal bitterness in aftertaste. Some copper too. Harsh to drink. I think no. ALIBALI (2572) - Kiel, GERMANY - FEB 19, 2016
Getrunken vom Hahn im Strongbows Kiel 0,3l/4,50 Euro. Optisch sehr ansprechend.
Bottle. Pours amber in colour, white head. In taste and aroma it is a typical dunkelweizen. I did not found any sight of milled chestnuts. Solid dunkelweizen. mateuszk (2769) - Poznań, POLAND - DEC 20, 2015
Bottle. Amber in colour, clear with small white head. Aroma of bananas, nuts and caramel. In taste banana, nuts, hint of caramel and clove. Light body, medium carbonation, dry finish with low bitterness. Pretty drinkable. ordybill (1815) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - DEC 18, 2015
Poured from the tap into a pint glass in St.Louis, Missouri. The appearance is a light amber with a medium sized white head. The aroma is full of malt, bread , pepper and caramel toffee. The flavor is a a fairly sweet malt flavor with a toasted finish. Overall, an exceptional beer.
