This beer pours a brown-black color with a medium light beige head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of funky yeast, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of yeast, funky lemon tea, roast malt and mild floral hops. The finish is mildly funky and tart with a lemony aftertaste. Pretty good overall. hopdog (13374) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 16, 2017
22oz bottle. Poured a brown color with an off white head. Earthy, citrus, and some spice. beastiefan2k (4268) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - JUL 9, 2017
A little unfermented black malt syrup. Tart lemons for sure. Some funky stuff. A bit empty finish. Glad I didn’t pay full price. Strykzone (7884) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUN 16, 2017
Bottled. Dark brown and opaque. A bigger creamy tan head. A funky wild aroma that is also earthy and a bit herbal. This one is not neat and clean but has that farm house quality. It is mildly tart but I don’t get clasdic lemon flavor and have no idea what black lemons are. Soft spices are intersting and I get black pepper. A little caramel and wet leather. I love thecomplexity and the unique flavors. rederic (3345) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 10, 2017

some tartness and cider with a bit of a stench to it really similar to urine. fizzy and seemingly with chalk but not as it is reminiscent of a fizzy candy. the urine like smell remained in the glass even when the bottle and glass were replaced. but interestingly neither beer bottle had that smell but rather the smell of delicious lemons. the brew looked deep brown and a tinge of green in there. there is a roasted sense of charcoal. one might think this a bad review. but the mid range of this beer is so fruity good with an actual quality champagne soul to it i have to admire the finished work. the brew morphs from not beery to bad to great and finishes in beer. great for holidays and the bottles are much nicer than the can depicted here. krumbum (1109) - truckee, California, USA - NOV 19, 2016
Smells of charcoal with a tartness growing around it. Murky brown with thin brown head. Mild coffee roasted with mild light tartness. Creamy like coffee with roasted lemons. mcberko (20442) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 5, 2016
On tap at Figurehead, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tiger and a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of earthy notes, dark rustic farmhouse notes and lemon. Flavour is a surprisingly cohesive mix of earthy notes, rustic farmhouse yeast and lemon. Not exactly my type of thing, but it’s certainly well-constructed and has depth. Good, powerful beer. Draft at Ass Clown. I am not making that up. Dark clear brown color. Aroma of earthy citrus. Taste has burnt straw pepper lemon. Interesting and unique. j12601 (13592) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - OCT 16, 2016
On tap at Draught. Pours a deep brown to black with a medium sized tan head. Soft roast, lemon, toast. Medium bodied, almost a roasted lemon note. Burnt or roasted citrus, dark and malty but still fairly light and drinkable. Long roast with blackened lemon peel. Really neat.
