3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Taster at the tap room, with further describes this as "Imperial ’Redd’ Ale," suggesting it’s a stronger version of the "I’m Coming to Join You Elizabeth." This reminded me favorably of Oskar Blues’ G’Knight. Reddish beer under some very leggy foam. The smell starts out with warming alcohol and doesn’t let up much. Taste is big and sticky with toast red ale malts, and again, plenty of fresh hops this close to the nest. Most intoxicating sample on my tray so far.
Aroma is strong caramel malts and piney hops. The flavor is caramel malts, grapefruit, pine needles, fruit and a slightly sour/warming alcohol finish. TattooJack (534) - Illinois, USA - JUL 28, 2015
Poured from the bomber, brown with red hue, white collar, smells like hops and booze. I have to say I’m a big fan of strong red ale and Sanford and son so these two things being brought together is very exiting to me, very reminiscent of champagne and ripple being mixed to make cham-pipple!? Or Aunt Ester’s face and cookie dough being brought together to make gorilla cookies. I miss Redd Foxx, he was my hero growing up. Make a beer to salute George Jefferson and I’ll buy that too! jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 14, 2015
Brown color with a good sized head. Raisin and bread with a heavy dose of hops and sugar. BeerBunker (966) - Burbank, Illinois, USA - APR 1, 2015
Pours amber with a foamy off white head. Aroma is of hops, citrus, and caramel. Taste is of bitter, resiny hops. Has a backbone of bready malt. There is also a lot of pine. Lingering bitter hop taste. As it warms, more caramel starts to come through. Drinks really easy. I liked it. A lot. kaser (6382) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 7, 2014
Dark red pour from 22oz bottle. Hoppy and fruity aroma - the smell is fantastic. Smells like a floral ipa. Smooth fruits and flowery taste. Really good

This impy "redd" ale has a chestnut body with a creamy tan head. Thick lace. Zest and floral scents hit the nose first followed by some caramel and dark stone fruit. The flavor is more malt forward, fruit and caramel followed by some zest and an earthy bitterness. The finish is dry and mildly bitter. Not bad. jh773 (311) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2014
Opaque muddy red-orange with a carrot head. Smells like sweet caramel, syrup. Taste is biscuit, caramel, herbal, cream. Long finish. OK. nuplastikk (6454) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 21, 2014
22oz bottle shared by Anndiesel. Thick amber-burgundy body. Respectable beige head...sticks around. Piny hops and amber malt aroma. Could you call this a Barleywine? Definitely. Pretty well done Imperial Amber as it were. Rich and sweet, quality feel. Cherry amber wood with a nice dry hop character that coats your palate into the aftertaste. Has that almost woody vanilla tinge. Pretty enjoyable beer. crossovert (13909) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 15, 2014
Draft pour. Big malty flavors, some really dense toffee cracker in there, plenty of hops but not enough. Niko100 (2994) - Chicago, New York, USA - APR 10, 2014
Dark amber/ruby color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of toasted caramel malt, hops, & some fruit; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel/toffee, pine hops, and citrus; Finish is slightly bitter with some alcohol; Not too bad.
