3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very high and dense beige-brown head over heavily carbonaed, mahogany coloured clear beer. Chocolate and chocolate malt- or wholemeal cookies; sweetish. Dry, woody flavour; bark spices, sweetness underneath but the finish reverts to dry-spicy-bitter. Quite reasonable balance. Sweeter warming up, more chocolate then, as well. Medium bodied at best, but quite (grist) slick; not watery at all. Quite tasty (and beautiful) Dunkel! Must be amongs the better Slovak current beers. Many thanks for the searching, Peter V.!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle (K Kamppi, Helsinki)
6 Grainy chocolatey aroma, a little bit of kama, not too sweet.
4 Very dark red, small tight tan head.
6 Pleasant roasty grainy retronasals. A schizophrenic taste, there’s all the roastiness from the aroma and retronasals, but running parallel to that is a sugary sweetness that neither supplements nor complements the roastiness. Without the sugar, it could have been quite Starbrno-like.
3 Smooth palate, pleasant carbonation, some sharp spiky hoppy bite too. Finish quite simple, slightly burnt huskiness and again a touch of sugar.
11 Tasty to the bottom of the glass, but perhaps just a little too sticky. Otherwise refreshing and sessionable.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottled. Darkish brown, small and mostly fully diminishing head. Moderate malty and sugary sweet aroma, some dark buttery bread. Moderate body, malty and sugary sweet, some dark bread and roasted malt. Finish is short, malty and sugary sweet, lightly roasted. Well, if you like sweet lemonade and cherry cola this one is for you. Otherwise, stay away.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle and pint. I had had an Urpiner once before and thought it was this one, I was surprised that this one didn’t taste like a sugar coated, wet paper bag like that last one so it must’ve been something else from the same brewery. Anyway, this is a pretty good beer with some sweetness to it.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma is a mix of barley, grains, and malts, in that order, and decently balanced. Has a nice dark amber colour. Taste of a good mix of roasted barley and malts. Pretty good for its style, and worth a try.
