And when you want something different, Urthel Samaranth 12 Quadrium Ale is with its fine bitterness, definitely something different... Try it! First brewed at Van Steenberge, now brewed at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery.

CyborgX (127) - THAILAND - OCT 19, 2016
Bottle - Certainly not something that only Belgians can do... in fact it faintly reminded me of some British Winter ales of the past... Not as dark or full bodied, but very close, and has that winter warmer feel about it. Initial taste is sweet and reminiscent of a barley wine, then falls off to a strong alchol slighly bitter finish ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark red/light brown with light off-white head. Aroma is berries, alcohol, caramel, rum, toffee, dust, grapes. Taste is quite same, dust jumps into the nose. Like a nice rum in the end of the day.

Kita (2304) - Koper, SLOVENIA - SEP 24, 2016
Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy dark brown color with thick creamy tan-like head, lots of residue and sparkling appearance. Aroma of yeast, dried fruit, caramel and wood. Taste starts with medium sweet toasted malt and burnt sugar, follows by dried fruit and yeast, but without any acidity, mouthfeel is spicy, warming and medicinal, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, thick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Strong as hell...

mateuszk (2769) - Poznań, POLAND - SEP 23, 2016
Bottle. Dark brown, huge beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, nuts, molasses and alcohol. I taste malty, fruity with lots of alcohol. Medium body, high carbonation, alcoholic bitterness in finish. Way too alcoholic.

0.33 l bottle from ’Slijterij Cevelum’ (Cuijk), bottled in September 2014 (two years old). Clear, dark mahogany with a medium large, slightly creamy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity and a little yeasty aroma of prunes, raisins, caramel, some chocolate and a slight hint of clove. Rather sweet, malty, a bit fruity and slightly yeasty taste of prunes, raisins, dried figs, caramel, some chocolate and a touch of licorice, followed by a long, slightly bitter, a bit roasty and rather warming-alcoholic finish. Medium body, rather effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Solid Quad, not overly complex or sophisticated, but quite intense, at least in the finish, and very satisfying. I like it, although the alcohol is clearly detectable.

Night_Cap (119) - Southern Highlands, AUSTRALIA - AUG 25, 2016
Bottle 330ml (2015) – cellared for 1 year. Served at room temperature. Pours a hazy copper. Head is small, off white and mostly lasting. Aroma is sweet and complex with notes of plum brandy; lighted toasted spiced fruit loaf, dried figs, brandy stewed apples, Belgian candy sugar, golden syrup, cinnamon, dark rum chocolate (light) and wood. Flavour is vinous with a very light bitterness; dark plums (strong), dark cherries (strong), ruby port (strong), toffee sauce, dark, cherry chocolate, fruitcake spices, lightly toasted brown bread and light notes of dried leaves and wood in the finish. Full bodied with soft carbonation, a thick texture and a superb length finish. ABV is VERY well hidden!
