500 ml bottle. Malmö, Sweden. As Founders English Ale.
Copper colour with small off-white head.
Some caramel sweetness but mostly fruity aroma. Bitter hoppy flavour. Decent Bitter. RichardW (1813) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - SEP 1, 2009
I remember this being a decent draught brew when Ushers was still on the go, so looked forward to trying the bottled version. It has retained the aroma I remember, biscuity and slightly fruity, with some toasted oats discernible. Has a metallic edge, but this is not overpowering. Quite a bitter, almost sour, sharpness. A reasonable example of an English ’premium’ ale..... highlandlad (1480) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - AUG 17, 2009
An oversweet, pasteurised bottled bitter. Ticked a lot of boxes for me but the flaws ultimately outweighed the positives. Looked very good - translucent bronze with an enduring 1cm head. Sugary-sweet aroma of boiled lollies with an odd violet floral note. Nice under-carbonated palate - very close to a cask bitter IMO. Thin malt flavours and low bitterness. Some figgy fruits and licorice root in the finish but it’s all too sweet for the style. (500ml bottle from Leura Cellars. BB 31/12/09) KnutAlbert (6771) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 6, 2009
50 cl bottle from Systembolaget.
Clear brown, fine head. Nutty, splendid balance between malt and hops, full flavour. Fine lingering bitterness in the finish. Refreshing.

500 ml bottle, as Ushers Founders English Ale, bought at Systembolaget. ABV is 4.7%. Amber to copper colour, big to moderate off-white head. Aroma of berries and malts, hints of caramel. The flavour is fruity with notes of malts and toffee, hints of nuts. Surprisingly sweet for a bitter. There is a noticeable hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad. Hops with slight yeast aroma. Tastes of coffie and caramel. Malty taste with fruits, caramel and a little coffie. Finishes with bitterness but doesn’t last long. Nice crossover for lager drinkers.
