1998 Vintage. Fruit, caramel and roasted malt aroma. Copper, with a large toffee head, continuous stream of bubbles like a sparkling wine, and pleasing lace. Robust nutty flavour, combined with malt, almonds, earthy too. Very much like a port, except for it's wonderfully bitter aftertaste. A terrific choice for #600! Thanks Michael of Chester's Beers Of The World. pilsnerrogge (3021) - Finspång, SWEDEN - JUL 1, 2002
Sticky sweet and too strong. ............................................... MadIndian (2743) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 7, 2011
Gift from S.J. I have a feeling this bottle wasn’t stored correctl. It had a flat taste.
Dark gold/ amber pour with a nose of some fruit and caramel malt.
Some hop flavor and a bitter flat finish. Jeppe (2634) - Brooklyn, Alabama, USA - DEC 4, 2004
Pours a tall airy tan head on a slightly hazy amber colored body. Aroma is malty and spicy with a roasted tone and hints of alcohol. Plenty of malt in the flavor. Notes of fruit, raisin, prune, hop and liquorice. Some sourness in the end. Tasty but rather thin bodied. mds (2256) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 22, 2006
Bottle. 1998 vintage. Bright copperish-tawny coloured body with a medium white bubbly head. The aroma is moderately cheesy, lots of bread, and sweet caramel-like malts. Certainly the rich malts are prominent in this beer - lots of bread, some sourish malt, and sweet caramel flavours. Soft, creamy palate. Pretty good.
Thanks for sharing this, Doug.

Amber coloured with a medium light amber head. Fruity bubblegum aroma very similar to the Ruby Ale. The taste is somewhat less smoth in comparison to the Ruby Ale with a more direct bitterness. Bitter dry aftertaste. Dalle (1145) - Skørping, DENMARK - AUG 12, 2003
Copper colour w. small head. Delicious malt (sweet, nut, toffee) well balanced by long bitter finish. Smooth. Boystout (1000) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - AUG 12, 2003
'Un more classic. Deep exciting copper color. I loved its gentle head. When I saw it first time, aroma didn't matter. Lots of fruits, butter, malt, nuts, microns of chocolate and alcohol. If I were the beer, I'd be "Tawny Ale". Ingevara (910) - SWEDEN - AUG 26, 2002
Indeed full bodied. Very malty and rich in the flavor. There is fruit and hops in a successful balance. More than a thirst killer, this is to be enjoyed on its own while solving the great riddles of life. DrBeer (862) - Solna Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 23, 2002
Cellared two years.
Orange amber beer with good beige head.
Aroma with bitteralmonds, apples, spices and syrup.
Smooth flavor with graphite and licorice tones. A bit tanninous.
Chemical tone with little bitterness. Growing, cookiedough and cardboard.
Quite excellent beer actually. Too bad the vintage dated bottles is no more.
