Harsh start, pop like carb, no real body, not smooth, little taste to speak of...and I had it on draft in Utica! Stick with Saranac labels. ConiseurofBeer (242) - Downingtown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 29, 2003
All the characteristics of shitty beer, with twice the shits. Obie99 (1) - USA - JAN 8, 2003 does not count
I love this beer. I really, really love this beer. The only bad things that I can say about it is that it has made my head pound once or twice, and that the Matt family never should have changed the old Shultz & Dooley label to the new flashy one. Don’t judge Uncle Charlie until you’ve drank this beer out of a bottle IN UTICA. Gearwar (56) - Rochester, New Hampshire, USA - OCT 9, 2002
This stuff is great boto (2192) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - OCT 6, 2002
Hard to believe that Matt is brewing good beers after starting from this stuff.

$9.00 a case...Can’t beat that. Well yes you could if quality mattered. russ71cj5 (40) - Rhode Island, USA - AUG 15, 2002

This beer is the nectar of the gods. Will drive 400 miles to buy this stuff. Sieveboy99 (2) - Nanuet, New York, USA - MAY 15, 2002 does not count
Grew up drinking this stuff in huge 16 oz ’pounders’, and still like it. It is good cheap beer. It does have a pretty good taste. Compared to national brands like Bud and Coors, UC has a decent taste and is very drinkable. Goes well with pickled products like eggs, sausages or prok hocks. olympian (107) - USA - MAR 24, 2002
LOL!! Is this horse piss still made? When I was working in Western New York State in the 70’s,
this was the ’desperation’ beer you bought if for some reason you couldn’t find Genesee.
I’ll give it one thing - it had character. Horrible character, but at least it had *some* character. Compare to Miller or Blatz, for example.
