This is a pretty good bock considering how little I like the style. The brown sugar and caramel is pretty strong here, but not overwhelming.

30cl bottle. BB 12/08. Trade with Thewolf. Pours amber with a reddish hew and a small stable creamy beige head and lacings. Nose is sweet of bread, dark fruits. Vaguely roasted caramel. Smooth and full palate. A bit of vinousness and lightly sticky. Taste has lots of caramel, bread and even some chocolate. Very nice.

Bosskie (885) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 22, 2009
Bottle from Bert’s bierhuis, Utrecht NL. Dark brown beer with a frothy head, vrye light brown. Smells sweet and yeasty maltiness. Some hint of coffee in the sweetness. The taste is somewhat too sweet for me but there are hints of coffee, almost nutiness, which gives it an intersting feel. Bit bitter in the aftertaste.

Bottle in Amsterdam. Amber body. With sweet and malt nose. Dense with good notes, also of caramel. Roasy and pleasant.

Bottled. Clean amber with a small beige head. Nose is sweet malts and a little yeasty, not overwhelming. Taste is sweet as well, a bit drier finish than other boks i’ve had recently. Light body, medium carbonation.

Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor. The finish is dry.

30 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a reddish and deep glare. Holds a light tan and slowly collapsing tan head. Breadish and roasted malt aroma with a mild spice note. Breadish, malty and somewhat spiced. Smooth roasted and malty finish.

Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, straw, light to moderate roasted, light brown sugar, notes of butter. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (140408)

Bottle. [thank you, Skortila/caesar]
Pours deep opaque red-brown with a fine, creamy and rather fizzy off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with plums and quite a lot of spices. Fine, rather light mouthfeel. Flavour is nice, quite roasted, good sweet chocolate, fine hoppiness. Nice, dry finish. A very good bock, but not a touch on the La Trappe.
