Nimensä mukaisesti lähes musta, pohjahiivakäymisellä valmistettu schwarzbier. Paahdetut erikoismaltaat tuovat olueen värin lisäksi paahteisen, lähes savuisen tuoksun ja kuivan lakritsimaisen maun.

Bottle. Sweet, some smoke, thin coffee. Cola color. Lightweight, but a thirstquencher.

kalervo (1043) - FINLAND - APR 15, 2014
Good Finnish schwarzbier, some roasted malts and well balanced finish. Nothing special, still decent beer.

Yet another bottle brought back from Finland by Elisabeth and shared at beer session in Tromsø 210512. Thanks! Clear palisaner body with a small, beige head that soon disappears. Nice aroma of smoke and roasted malts with faint, exciting hints of sewer and moldy bathrooms. Flavour resembles aroma, but is weaker. Feels okay in the mouth, but lacks some texture and body. By no means a true rousing adventure, but definitely a tale worth telling.

Braastad (459) - FINLAND - MAR 17, 2014
Black, little head. Not much of a aroma. Flavor has bready malts and is nicely roasted and smooth.

Marstonlad (890) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 8, 2014
A black color with a little white head. Aroma has dark, light roasty maltiness, bread and some caramel. Taste is medium roasty, malty and grainy; also some sweetish notes of caramel. Palate is light with a bit fizzy carbonation - even a bit watery. A bit one-dimensional all in all this beer.

Drank from a bottle at home. The taste is malty and smoky with a watery aftertaste. The colour is dark brown.

Ernest (7697) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 31, 2013
Bottle at Helsinki Bryggeri. Head is mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (roasted grain, husks), with light notes of metal and paper. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly husky. Light to medium body, velvety texture, lively/soft carbonation. Surprisingly simple and nearly unpleasant, especially compared to the Savu smoked beer.

Zarkam (539) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 18, 2013
Impaled Nazarene edition, 500ml bottle from a nearby hypermarket. Very dark brown colour, small, white fairly persistent head, roasty aroma that reminds a bit of roasted sunflower seeds with hints of licorice. Fairly dry taste, medium carbonation, mouthfeel is a bit watery though. Not an insanely impressive dunkel, but tasty anyway and not annoyingly sweet as the sometimes can be. Props for the amazing goat-pentagram label also.
