Nevelig, donkerbruin. Schuim verdwijnt zeer snel. Aroma van gebrande mouten, pure chocolade, koffie, caramel. Licht bitter, licht zoet. Beetje droog in de mond. Medium body, medium co2.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2018 Huge creamy frothy light brown head. Excellent lacing. Mostly diminishing. Translucent dark-amber body. Aroma: heavy toasted malt, mild coffee, prune. Initial flavor: moderate sweet light acidic. Final flavor: moderate sweet light acidic bitter; long duration. Palate: light medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation and metallic moderate alcoholic finish. Moderate fruity esters (including raisins and plums), other than the not so usual presence of apple. Spicy phenols include light clove. Spicy qualities are low. The malt is most prominent in the balance with esters and a touch of alcohol in support, blending together for a harmonious presentation. Flavor: Rich, complex medium to medium-full rich-sweet malt flavor on the palate yet finishes moderately dry. Complex malt, ester, alcohol and phenol interplay (raisiny flavors. Balance is toward the malt. Medium-low bitterness that doesn’t persist into the aftertaste. Medio aquecimento alcoolico. Falta corpo. 90 s

Very good Dubbel. Dark and rich in flavor. I do like the combination of malty sweetishness, with its fruity sourness and a gentle bitter aftertaste. Very much to my liking.

Brown. Dark, but not too dark. Medium-sized head that lasts for ages. Aroma is caramel, bread, and chocolate. Taste is malt and brown sugar with an earthy feeling.

Clear brown color with beige head. Aroma has mostly yeast esters with brown sugar and some sourdough. Taste starts sugary and yeasty, continues with some earthy notes and a light cardboard bitterness on the finish. Light body with a high carbonation, also quite dry on the finish. It tastes really authentic and "belgian" but it doesn’t stand out with anything.

Zarrach76 (344) - Grenoble, FRANCE - JUN 5, 2017

Bottle from the abbey. Super dark, thick foamy head. Sugary, malty, toast and some spices. Toasty malts, some syruppy sugar, sweet overall. Slight bitterness but moslty doughy, malty and a little chocolate as well.
