COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The new masterpiece from the Val-Dieu brewery. A very complex and full-bodied beer with a long aftertaste. The brewmaster advices to cellar the beer for a year for it to unfold its full potential.

750mL bottle. Poured deep, coppery-brown with a tall cap of beige head.. set itself up nicely in the glass. The aroma picked up a great blend of raisins, plums, and molasses with accents of peppery yeast and banana.. warmth brought out more spice and candied fruit.. good stuff! The flavor found molasses and raisins above all else at the core, with caramel providing some support.. tangy earth and peppery spices joined banana and dusty yeast notes around.. peppery spices and warm raisins amplified by alcohol on the long finish. Medium-plus bodied moderate-plus carbonation on the palate.. everything was very well balanced, and I’ll be glad to drink this again.

Bottle - 750ml. Dark brown body with ruby glints and a thin off-white foamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with grassy and biscuity hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Taste carries yeasty, vanilla, and plummy notes. Ends with a good warming finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a very large, frothy and dense light brown head. Lacing is extremely strong. Aromas of grapefruit, roasty, banana, and toffee. Palate is very lively to start and then the beer has an extremely long aftertaste. Flavors of banana, malts, and hints of wine. A good beer that I can imagine will be much better after this sits around a year or two.

I remember having a Val-Dieu on tap with my Dad some years ago. So when I saw the "Grand Cru" label I knew I had to try this. I would like to store an extra bottle of this to "mature", but I don’t think I would have thew patience since this taste damn good now. Has the typical sweet yeasty Belgian taste that any fan of this style is accustomed to. This reminds me of some of the Noel Belgians that I have had like St. Bernardus and Affligem. Dark fruits, spicy, and warming to the palate.

Pours brown with particles and a sudsy white head. Aroma of sweet fruit-peach, apple, with caramel. Taste is pretty sweet, very carbonated and fruity. Alcohol is mild and masked well.

750 ml bottle shared with JF @ Saint-Bock 10.01.16 : Brown minimal head. Aroma of grape, caramel, dark fruits and yeast. This beer as a sweet finish it’s short It’s med in body. Taste full of dark fruits, date, brown sugar and caramel. The sugar truly hides well the 10.5 % abv. Worth the price paid that nite.

Bottle aged roughly a year. Fruity/molasses aroma. Dark brown/amber body with medium head.. nice lacing around the glass...Flavor or cherry, molasses, plum with spiced yeast, hides the alcohol well as it is very complex and balanced

Bottle. The best i’ve had under the Val-Dieu line to date. Pours a dark brune body with an off white head. Dark fruit esters, modest warming, plums, dates, licorice, with a sweet warming. Spiced yeast character hints of cinnamon and woody notes. A very nice ale.
