The new masterpiece from the Val-Dieu brewery. A very complex and full-bodied beer with a long aftertaste. The brewmaster advices to cellar the beer for a year for it to unfold its full potential.

Frothy beige head soon left a bubbly cover on a near black still body. Huge aroma of malt, demerara, port, plum & stewed fruits. Light & airy on the palate. Tingly down the throat. Sticky on the lips. Sweet malt tastes with plum, berries, brown sugar, banana, Belgian yeast & very long fruity finish.

Beachmaster (490) - Oklahoma, USA - FEB 15, 2017
On draught. Pours a hazy amber with a small white head that fades quickly. Nose is a complex mixture of earthy spice and vinous notes. Taste is very complex, with a supremely balanced flavor of subtle spice, a touch of funk, and a vinous backbone. Improves dramatically as it warms to the correct temperature. Has a dry, champagne-like finish with a very long finish. Excellent.

Taste is full bodied sweetness with caramel and roasted malts, also raisins and some spices. The finish is light bitter and has some warming alcohol. Nice beer!

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2017 Bottle at beerbistro. Many thanks to Lisa and Craig for giving me an excuse to try this! Dark reddish brown with finely bubbled tan head. Sweetish raisin, molasses, and caramel aromas, with some faint hints of oakiness and leather. Slick mouthfeel. Lighter palate than I expected, hides its booze well. Sweet raisins and caramel dominate the flavour, with some cherry on the back end. Tasty stuff.

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours rather dark brown, with some reddish reflections, and with whitish foam. Aroma is rich: licorice, molasses. But not strong in intensity. Body is markedly carbonated and dense, with some stickiness too. Taste is deliberately very sweet. Feels like drinking liquid sugar. Finish has some persistent sweetness.

Bottle. Nose is cinnamon, pepper, start anise, peppermint, dough, sweet malt. Taste is bread, dough, sweet malt, pear drops leading to spice, cinnamon, plum, candy sugar. Mouthfeel is slick. It’s cheerful, sweet and well suited to a cold evening.

Light malty nose. Pours very dark brown, little carbonation. Well rounded mouth but the alchool shows up soon in mouth. Some mild vanilla, tiny little cinammon, not much else...
