The new masterpiece from the Val-Dieu brewery. A very complex and full-bodied beer with a long aftertaste. The brewmaster advices to cellar the beer for a year for it to unfold its full potential.

Poured into a large Karmaliet tulip glass. Poured a cola like brown with a pillowy three finger head. Aroma is Belgian yeast, spices, brown sugar and some candied fruit. Taste comes across the same. Although very sweet, the carbonated dry finish at the end makes this very enjoyable and not cloying.

Chestnut brown, with a big, even head. Deep, dark fruitiness on the nose - fig, cherry, toffee, raisin. On the palate, soft and smooth, with rich dark fruitiness and soft, sweet sugars, cut by just a touch of alcohol. Big and complex, but smooth, creamy and balanced. Yum.

Muddy bronze ale with dense ivory head. Notable lacing. The aroma is fruity. Apple, pear, plum. Caramel. Vinous. Medium to full body. Complex taste. Nice fruit, caramel, candy, spicy yeast. Some hops. Delicious indeed.

Botella. Color marrón oscuro casi negro. Opaca.

0.33l bottle. Very dark orangish brown body with a thin off whize head. Aroma of caramel, dark sugar syrup, raisins and figs. Taste of caramel, orange zest, dark sugar, raisins, figs and floral hops. Sweet, dark fruity and complex. Great beer.

Bottle from the abbey. Deep dark brown, thin retaining head. Sugary sweet deep red wine aroma. Taste is more port wine, plum, caramel, bready. Sticky finish with medicinal herbs and fortified wine. Maybe even some banana in there. Not weizen banana, more but akin to Aventinus eisbock for example. Drunk with some chocolate cake, but maybe a cigar would have been better.

kaserov (590) - Oviedo, SPAIN - APR 23, 2017

Brown with big pillowy off white head. Aroma a touch musty...lots of yeast and plum, slight herbal bready character that’s there in the flavor as well with a hint of bitterness.

Hazy, light brown with a frothy off white lasting head. Aromas of herbs, sugared oats, fruity esters, some barnyard, caramel. Light tangy, slick and full bodied. Harmonic sweet-bitter overall and hiding its abv pretty well. Lasting light herbal finish. Rather enjoyable.

Frothy beige head soon left a bubbly cover on a near black still body. Huge aroma of malt, demerara, port, plum & stewed fruits. Light & airy on the palate. Tingly down the throat. Sticky on the lips. Sweet malt tastes with plum, berries, brown sugar, banana, Belgian yeast & very long fruity finish.
